Morning everyone. Thank you for asking. Yes I made it to Boston and then home again 24 hours later. The service was exactly what we wanted. I had planned it all and prepared all of the materials from here and carried everything from Denver to Boston. I still made it with only an overnighter and no checked bags. That was a first for me. The minister my sister mortuary chose was exceptional his words quite comforting. There were quite a few people in attendance about 75 I would guess. I guess I came home and I'm just numb and exhausted. I slept most of the day yesterday.
Mike isn't driving yet, so I drove to the bus terminal. Wouldn't you know it started to blow very heavy snow just before I left. On the highway the speeds were down to 25 all the way there. And we did have to de-ice. My brother picked me up at the airport at 5:30am with a cup of coffee in hand for me, dropped me at Audra's house. I had a terrible seat on the plane and didn't sleep a wink. I had enough time to shower and dry my hair get dressed and they picked me up to head to the funeral home. My older sister had arrived from FLA the night before. After the service we had people over to Audra's for a small reception and then at 4:30pm Trish my older sister headed to Providence for the airport and me to Boston. There was an accident on the way and we were stuck for over an hour on the highway, The MA Pike is so unpredictable I always give myself 3 hours to get there. I made the mistake of eating at the airport and was ill on the plane. I should have know better. But I had a good seat and I absolutely crashed inbetween bouts of illness. We landed 20 minutes early which allowed me to run for the 10:45 bus which I made. Otherwise it would have been 11:45. But the bus is not an express route it stops at 6 stops in downtown so I guess I arrived at the terminal at 12:10 am Sunday and it was just beginning to snow again. I dragged into the house and Mike was in bed but waiting for me.
Mike has been doing well. He is very weak still and tired but he is holding his own and trying to move a little more each day. He has a doctor's appt on Friday and I think he needs his meds tweaked, I hope they do. But all in all he is doing well the edema all gone except for a small amount in his feet, and his breathing easier.
What a remarkable time the Mingo Dude and I have been through, and then me with Daddy. I don't know why it all piled on at the same time, but you know what they say what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. I'm waiting for the stronger to hit after some of the exhaustion leaves my body.
I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It is difficult for me to even think of the Holidays. Mike and I will be here and will have a tree.. The only gifts I'm buying this year are for the kidlets, and I'm sending a check to Audra to do the shopping, I'm just too tired to do it myself this year. What matters most is that the kids have a nice Christmas. When I left Kaan said to me Grammy tomorrow? Meaning where are you going will you e here tomorrow? I felt bad leaving he just didn't understand.
Thank You all for your warm wished. I'm overjoyed about Mike coming along slowly but numb about Daddy still. It will take some time and we will bounce back slowly this was a hard hit for all of us.
Hugs...
