I have not been to Alaska in July, but I know the salmon should be spawning. My husband and I have been in August, and the salmon are making their runs up the rivers and creeks. That was why we chose August. We have gone to Alaska the last 5 years, and we try to go at different times because Alaska is different during each month. In May you will see more snow and so many waterfalls because of the melting snow. We have gone in June and there is still some snow , but the wildlife viewing starts to pick up more , and of course the prices for cruises are more. So as to which month is better, I have no preference. I would just go to Alaska anytime.
