Just got back from the Spirit 12/17 sailing & noticed several things different on this cruise.
First of all, it was much easier at embarkation. I had pre-registered & was in my cabin within an hour of landing at the airport. That was a great surprise.
Secondly, for those of you for whom smoking/non smoking is an issue; many more areas both indoor & out were non smoking. No smoking signs were posted in all the lounges except for one one adjacent to the casino. There were also no smoking signs in the area of the domed pool. There were three areas for smokers, the casino, the fan tail pool & the smaller pool on Lido deck forward. I'm wondering if Carnival smoking policy will change on all ships since the Paradise will no longer be smoke free. I'm a smoker, but these changes didn't really bother me. When I wanted to smoke I just went to an area where it was acceptable. AND these changes should make the non smokers happy. Gives them lots of smoke free space all over the ship.
Last & best was their new debarkation policy. Any U. S. citizen with proper identification & who were able to carry their own luggage were allowed to debark first. Debarkation started at approximately 7:45 & was by far the most painless debarkation I've ever experienced. The cruise director said this was only the second time they had tried this on the Spirit. Sure would be wonderful if all the ships started doing this.
