We just got back from our mexican riviera cruise, well not really the riviera, we went to catalina, and ensanada, and San Fransico for 2 days, due to two hurricains MAN some people were really upset about the itinerey change but not me, we got a $300. dollar shipboard credit and 1/2 off our next cruise, we smiled all the way cause we will still get to go to mexico, sometime when they are not having so many hurricains, sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge was awesome, we got a front row seat to fleet week, with the blue angle as well as all sorts of other acrobate flyers the veiw from the ship could not be beat.
the ship itself is a really beautiful ship I was really pleased with so many things on this ship, the mermaid grill was the best layout of any buffet I have ever seen on a ship,so many choices of so many different kinds of food, one warning the sushi was the worst we ever had, shoul not even be called sushi stay away... that was really my only complaint about the food, other than more choices for breakfast would be great.everything else was sooo good our waiter DaDa was wonderful and so funny, his service left nothing to be desired.
our cabin was on the 5th deck on the stern of the ship, extended balcony( if this was extended I would hate to see a regular one), but we did enjoy evey inch of the extra space, our steward was good, but thats about it, he did not seem too happy, so we gave him the day off from our room several days, these guys work really hard and we really dont make that big of messes, hopfully we cheered him up a little.
the room has alot of space and plenty of storage, and one electrical outlet for the whole room, thank goodness we brought a power strip, the bathroom also was roomy and lots of shelves to keep all your toiletries.
we only saw 3 shows all we saw were good, mostly we like the comedians and we are not too big into follies type shows, so we only watch those kind of shows we like.
we gambled we LOST.
we never had trouble getting a chair by the pool, there are at ;east 3 or 4 to choose from, the spas mostly had kids splashing around in them, nothing new about that. the slide looked really fun, but I never ever saw it open and being used??? why
the shower in the spa is not to be missed, 5 jets pointed at you from 5 different directions ooh ahhh I used it just cause, but this would be a really helpful thing to know about if you have lots of people in a cabin all trying to get ready at the same time, its a ton better than the shower in your room,& its free
steve was our cruise director and he was fine, kinda just a guy, he did not really stand out on this cruise like some of our other CD, but he was not bad either, just OK
I'll try and answer any questions, we had a great vacation and can't wait till the next one!
havin fun jo

Hi Jorene,

Too bad the weather didn't cooperate with you folks, but you certainly made the best of the situation. We enjoyed your comments about your cruise and it was obvious that you enjoyed your cruise experience. Sailing under the Golden gate is one of the more memorable events available on west coast cruises and the port of San Francisco is one of the best. We tried the sushi on the Elation and had the same opinion as you did. It is nice that Carnival makes the effort to serve sushi, but it is not an easy dish to prepare properly hope they can get it right in the future. I think that Carnival was genorous to give you the on board credit, and you would think that would have had most people smiling. Hope you do get to make that Mexico visit soon, and that you get some better weather.

Hi Jorene,
I'm sorry to hear you had your cruise rerouted but I am glad to hear some positive feed back on the Pride. We're leaving at the end of the month for our first cruise on the Pride and I enjoyed your comments. I thought there would be fewer kids this time of year with school being in but by your comment on the spa maybe I thought wrong? Is there an adult pool and spa? I'm also sorry to hear abou the sushi not being very good. I love sushi and was looking forward to having some at the mermaid grill... oh well. Did you try the supper club?

Thanks for all of your informaiton and I'm glad you enjoyed your rerouted cruise!

Jorene~ do you plan on posting pictures of your cruise? I know that I would be laid back about the change because my main reason for cruising is just to cruise... I see the ports of call just as a bonus!

yeah there is an adult only pool, but in bad weather it is open to everyone, and really ther was not that many kids in board, they just really liked the spas
we did go to Davids supper club, and it is fabulous, my husband said it was the best ceaser salad he ever had and the filet was even better than mine, and I make a pretty good filet, the service is wonderful, the drinks the best on board, we went there before dinner for great martinis, twice as big as the other bars and in a proper chilled glass, everything was great I couldn't finish hardly anything cause I needed room for dessert, glad I saved room that flourless cake is to die for, just a great romantic evening.
the sushi was stuff like smoked salmon with cheese???? oyster from a can sitting on a ball of rice, and cucumber with cheddar, I was not kidding when I said it shouln't be called sushi, I don't even think cheese is any where in an asian diet, it was OK though there was lots of other good stuff to eat the sandwich bar rocked, everything I had was finger licking good, the pizza was really good too. a far cry from the pizza on the holiday
any thing I left out, just ask
have fun jo

Hi Jorene,
Thanks again for the informaiton! I can't believe they didn't open the water slide? Did you ask why it wasn't open for use? I was looking forward to sliding on it! I'm a 38 year old kid at heart!! LOL Whewwww... am I glad to hear they have an adult pool. No adult spa huh? That's too bad... Oh well, I'll have to get in and splash around with all of the kids! lol

I'm also glad to hear that David's Supper Club was worth the extra money.

Did you feel the movement of the ship? Our cabin is mid ship on the panoramic deck 8I catagory. I'm really worried about being up so high on the ship... I have the motion sickness patches and the bands. Did you have any problem with motion sickness and if you did what did you use to prevent it?

How were the formal nights? Was it tux and gowns or suits and cocktail dresses? I

there is an adult spa with the adult pool, but everyone can use it in bad weather,I do not know why the slide was not open, could have been weather, or rough seas, that might answere you next question, did we feel movement, yep we did, but never got sick... maybe I am sick, but I love the movement of the ship!!!, for us formal means formal, tuxes and gowns, & we were not out of place
have fun jo
