Just back from the Mercury 1/2 - 1/13 sailing.

It was a wonderful cruise in most ways. I travelled with 2 of my sisters, and they 'forced' me to get a Royal Suite, our cabin was great (though it could use some remodel), service outstanding, LuCile (cabin stewardess) and Savio (butler) were beyond fabulous. Our dining room service was impeccible.

Overall, had a great cruise, but it didn't leave me with the "I need to cruise again" feeling. Not much night life and (IMHO) found many of the passengers relatively unfriendly and snobbish).

This was my 8th Celeberity Cruise (67th cruise overall) and as a passenger with 36 Princess cruises to my name, thought that the Captains Club was a mere joke. The 2 parties I was invited to were a joke, yes, I could order what drink I wanted, but no extra appetizers. The Select and above party, nothing but the nut mix on the tables no one said anything. At the other party, Captain toasted and they gave roses to the most travelled. Unlike what I'm used to on Princess.

The ship could use some updating.

Food options, while on a time restraint, were good. Especially the salad and sandwich bar and the pizza and pasta bar.

Walked out of the 2 shows I did attempt to go to (but then again, I find MOST shows on MOST ships boring, can't they come up with something imaginative?)

I thought things were horribly expensive....Internet at .75 per minute (as opposed to .35 per minute on Princess), a Jack and Coke was $6.90 per drink (with tip, as opposed to about $4.90 on Princess), a martinie was $9.50 (as opposed to $7.50 on Princess).

Tours were outstanding, my sisters had some difficulty getting some things corrected by Guest Relations, but it eventually got done.

Overall a good cruise.

Now, 3 weeks until the Carnival Liberty !

I was on the 10 day Mercury a few years back and the ship was in very good shape and the crew wonderful. I am going on the 11 day Mexico in April. Will I be unhappy. This will my 18th Mexican Riviera cruise. I don't go for the ports. Just to relax and enjoy myself.

As for prices vs. Princess. I was on the Sapphire in December and most photos were now catagorized as 8x10 and they charged $19.95. Their DVD was priced at $44. I do like the free internet for Platinum members. Oh..the free ice cream bar is only open one hour a day on Sapphire.
