Our son graduated from college this past summer. Since then, he's been giving his dear-old dad a hand with some carpentry work (to help with some back-log), and doing landscape work for a friend.

But, he's been real antsy to get into the "real" working world using his degree. I had to sit DH down, and make him realize that this kid doesn't want to be a carpenter!!

So, one of his professors recommended him to a company near the college (on the other side of the state). He went for the interview today...

He just called me, and HE GOT THE JOB!!!! YIPPEE :jump

He said they agreed to the salary he wanted, with health benefits, dental, etc. They want him to start next week!

He's happy, I'm happy, his sister is happy, DH will get over it....

:thumb Congrats to him! And, good for you for explaining to DH that it's time to cut the apron strings. I know it's not easy...I'm going to be going through that in 10 months when DS goes off to college. :cry

That is great news!! My son was just offered his first "professional" IT job yesterday. He starts in 2 weeks. He had a lead from someone he goes to school with. He's now switching to finish his degree in the evenings & weekends but is still slated to finish in the spring. :) It does feel great when your adult child gets settled in a profession. Congrats!

That IS good news! I hope the job turns out to be everything your son wants it to be. My younger son has been out of college a few years and is freelancing - very tough, much stress, no benefits. I wish your son well!

Congratulations to your DS! :thumb Both my DS'es are now policemen, have recently married and have their own homes and there is such a peacefulness that comes over you knowing your children are happy and are on the right path towards their future. I was going thru a file on my desk and found this tucked in there. Thought this would be a good time to share it:
Parents rarely let go of their children, so children let go of them. They move on. They move away. The moments that used to define them~ a mother's approval, a father's nod~are covered by moments of their own accomplishments. It is not until much later, as the skin sags and the heart weakens, that children understand; their stories, and all their accomplishments, sit atop the stories of their mothers and fathers, stones upon stones, beneath the waters of their lives.

Karry, thanks so much for the nice words....

It is all so true!

I'm waiting today to hear from my son, how it all went on his first day. I'd like to tell everyone more about this company where he will be working, but I want to wait until it's all a "done deal"...it does look promising for him though.
