what excurisons have you taken in Key West? How far is it from the port to the Most Southern Point Bouy? Is there a good hotel or water sports area at the beach to rent Sea Doos?

My son would love to slide on the large slide at the Atlantis Hotel. Is there any kind of arm band or anything that we can purchase for him to do that or is everything there strictly for hotel guests only? How is the tour that you can actually do there, is it worth it?

Hello Bankergirl, I have heard two ideas for the Atlantis facilitis, but can't swear to either of them and they don't sound promising.

I read that it was possible to rent a "room for the day" at Atlantis, but I haven't heard of anyone doing that lately. It would be expensive, of course, but then naturally you'd have use of all facilties. Unfortunately they only did that when they had rooms not already booked up. From what I understand that doesn't happen much anymore.

It had occured to me that you could actually just rent a regular room there for one day, check in and out the same day. Unfortunately that won't work because of how late in the day "check in" occurs at most hotels. Most of the day would be gone by then. And would really be expensive too.

I've also heard that renting a room at the Comfort Inn next to Atlantis includes complimentary priveleges at Atlantis facilities too. Not sure how that works. You'd need to call that Comfort Inn and verify. And again, most hotels don't have check in till something like three o'clock, so unless they has a special arrangement for early check in, that's not going to work either.

Good luck. Let us know if you come up with a workable plan.

Are you thinking of the Atlantis Hotel in Nassau. I can find no ATlantis in Key West other then a B & B.

Hello!! I am just off the Celebration (7/14-7/19)

I LOVED Key West!!! It was my favorite. I rented adult sized tricylces and me and my friend rode those because we didn't want to walk.

We had planed to go to a beach, but we found out that the nicest/safest/cleanest beach cost 1.50 pp. We only had 5 hours of rental time so we did not go to the beach. If you want to go to the Southernmost Point and other places on the island, I reccoment renting some sort of transportaion, OR you could look into the trolley ride that let's you get on and off. There would be too much wlaking and not enough time to see everything. Even though we had transportation we did not have enough time to see everything.

In Nassua regarding Atlantis, we did not go, but I heard that you could use the facilities after you toured Atlantis.

I hope this helps!

We did the celebration cruise in June. Really enjoyed the Butterfly conservatory in Key West. Wasn't so impressed with the aquarium (they are a combined tour that cost 40.00). They run you where you need to be in a bus, and the aquarium is walking distance to the boat. They will pass the mile post when taking you there, but they don't stop. Was worth passing, but a postcard would be just as good. We walked up Duval street to Jimmy Buffets Margarittiville and really enjoyed it (though its a bit old and bit run down if you are expecting Disney like facilites). Avoid the shopping (though the Key West Pearl shop had some cheap cruise specials 5-15 dollars and is walking distance to the ship).
We heard great things about the Atlantis, but did not go. We went to the dolphin encouter and had a great time. Friends found a local driver who took them to a beach after helping them find picnic supplies and snorkeling gear. The feeling is a little scarey there as they are all trying to get you in their cabs and to do hair braids etc. The custom agents vouched for the cab driver, and told them not to pay until they got back.
Enjoy your cruise!
