hi. i am new here. i have two boys ages 5 yrs. and 11 yrs. very well behaved, respectful kids i might add..lol. But we will sail on the facination in october when school is in session so i was wondering if there will be enough kids on this cruise to keep the childrens program going? i was told that sometimes when they do not have enough children they will not do many activities, which i understand. I just hope for the sake of my kids that they will be able to entertain them :)

help?

The kids program is always open and active on every cruise regardless of the number of children onboard. In October you should expect a very low number of kids and therefore more personalized attention from the Camp Carnival staff but less little ones for your kids to play with.

I've seen the kids program going with just three kids. That was in February, on a two week cruise through the Panama Canal on the NCL Star.

I've been on two Carnival ships during school time (May 2004 and April 2006). In each case I would estimate the number of kids at 100 to 150. I was on the Victory to Canada in the summer of this year. Being summer there were more kids. Being Canada (which doesn't have a lot of swimmer friendly beaches) there were still 300 to 400 kids. A summertime Conquest class ship could easily have 800 kids.

We usually travel during the school year and we've seen an increase in the number of kids traveling. Some are public school kids, some are homeschooled, and some come for year round schools that have different vacation times. We haven't been on a cruise in the past few years where the childrens programs weren't in full swing. My kids are grown, but it is something I tend to watch out for.

I was on the Conquest a couple years ago in October and there were plenty of kids for my daughter to interact with in her age group.
When I say plenty I mean well over 200 at least
