We will be cruising on the Glory next month. Does the ship give out "walkie talkies" to stay in touch? Would cell phones work? Help me out here. Thanks.
Hi,
Cell phones generally will not work for very long after leaving the U.S. port. They usually have the radios you mentioned for rent on board, cannot recall the cost, though, but I thought it was fairly reasonable for the week.
When we took my neice and nephew to Cal for vacation we bought a good set of walkie talkies for about $30.00 at Wal-Mart that recharge by plugging in. You might want to look into that. We loved them very much and were a great help.
Take your own 2-way family radios. They do not give them out to parents who enroll their children in Camp Carnival. Parents are instructed to "check in" on a regular basis to make sure everything is okay.
Cell phones don't work at sea and only work in some ports, plus the roaming charges can be high in port.
