What we do,is dont worry about it.....send them out to be pressed the first night......couple of bucks and they will so good.....

note---pressing charges are 1/2 of the dry cleaning fees.....really reasonable.

Are laundry services provided?

A: Self-service laundry facilities are not provided onboard our ships, but we do offer full laundry and dry cleaning services. We do not provide irons in the staterooms as they constitute a fire hazard.

Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder. And If I didn't worry about how I packed and had to pay those prices on our cabn account, for all the wrinkled items, my hubby would not be reasonable.

Actually I think pants are the easiest thing to pack. First off, you need to be using the largest pullman that you have.

Just iron the pants with the fold on the center creases. (Jeans should have the material fold along the side seams of the legs. you don't want a center-of-the leg crease on them. Or skip folding and you can just roll Jeans.) Don't zip or button the waist, all pants will lay flat better if the waist is not fastened.

Lay the pants out flat on the bed, matching up the center edge creases, one leg on top the other, side seam of the pants up. Then just fold in half at the knee. (When you unfold them it will leave only one crease at the knees, that wouldn't have actually been ironed in on purpose. I recommend packing a travel steamer to deal with that if necessary.)

Now, to put the pants in your suitcase there are two options. If the suit case has a smooth, flat bottom, lay the pants in the bottom of the suitcase before packing anything else. Lay all the pants in there first, one on top of the other. Alternating which way they face,( placing the waist band of one pair on the left side, then the waist band of the next pair to the right.) keeps the pile of pants flat..

If your suitcase has wheels, the colapsable handle will mean the bottom of your suitcase is not flat. In this case you need to find a large piece of stiff cardboard that's almost the size of the suitcase. (Those posters boards the kids use for projects work ok. Or cut out a piece of a large box.)

Stuff the bottom of the suitcase, between the handle rungs, with socks or hubby's underwear, or items like that. Arrange them until you have almost a flat surface. Then put the cardboard on top. Now you will have a totally smooth flat surface to put the pants on. Stack them up, then pack the other clothing on top.

Make sure your suit case is pretty snuggly packed so all will stay in place. Otherwise clothes will shift and wrinkle.

My method may be over simplified - but I make sure they're well pressed before I pack, hang them on a hanger that as the roll of cardboard to prevent a hanger crease, but a dry-cleaning bag over them, and fold in half and put them in my bag. Have never had to send out for pressing.

Hello PH8, Sure that's reasonable, for one pair. But mulitipy it by all the clothes in my suitcase, simply because I didn't bother to pack carefully? No, that's not a reasonable use of my money.

Well, I guess if you had to iron all your clothes,it could be an expense.........we usually just have my husbands slacks ironed,if necessary and a shirt of two.......no more than 10 bucks.....

I am sure MArtha Stewart's website has advice on how to pack the perfect suitcase.

I am thinking of bringing my travel steamer. It works pretty well (better than hanging the clothes in the bathroom during while we take showers)

I know you're not supposed to do this, but I pack an iron that measures about the size of my fist. The problem is finding a decent enough space/area in your cabin where you can actually iron. Shirts are even more difficult than slacks, though I imagine if you packed them in a suit carrier, then invested in a small steamer ($20-$30), that might also work.

PS - Hey, Grandeur, you know that Royal has a couple more ships to choose from? (kidding you!)

You're right....do not pack an iron.....it is against the rules for a reason...fire hazard!

Ya but Grandeur was my second and best cruise. I may be breaking away to Explorer or back on the Empress for a farewell cruise next year though.
