my wife and I are from Michigan and last Feb(2007) we were to fly out the morning of the cruise - well the weather decided to cancell all flights out that morning, well we could not get to the port on time so we missed the sailing, still wanted the vacation so we flew to cayman islands for a couple days then got on the ship there.Carnival being as great as they are, gave us a very good discount for a future cruise along with other perks. We did not have insurance either. Thank you Carnival.
