Okay as some of you may have read, i just got back from the Fantasy (so-so, hey it wasnt NJ :) ) anyways, we were able to carry on our own 22 inch carry-ons , without having to porter and wait for them to arrive at our cabin....

Can I do the same on princess??

Also due to some changes in heart I have decided not to do the snorkel with the sting rays inthe grand cayman islands, what else is there to do on your own, we plan on hitting the harley store, but that wont take up all day , and we didnt want to book anything with the ship, we are not big drinkers so please dont post about the local bars, we would like to do something interesting. ANy thoughts??

Also please someone tell me that the food is WAY better on princess, we got back from CCL starving because the food was less than edible, we are not Tavern on the Green type people, but I must say that i could have eaten better food at OLD COUNTRY BUFFET , we were highly dissapointed in the food on CCL.

Cant wait to meet everyone, ps we have transfers to and from FT Lauder. airport booked with princess, i found the Mears bus that took us from Orlando to port canaveral to be just fine we were able to barely fit our suitcases next to us on the bus, does anyone know who princess uses for transfers to and from the pier???

Also are there hair dryers on the ship ??? and i plan on packing lighter and doing laundry on the ship on CCL it was about 5.00 in quarters to do a small load, princess the same???

thanks guys for all your help

Rum Pointe is located far away from crowded 7 Mile Beach, and the 40 minute trip provides many photo opportunities and little historical markers along the way, and is a great family destination if you're looking for a nice day-trip away from the cruise crowds. Once you get there, the only thing you need to worry about is relaxing. The water is just as crystal clear here as it is on 7-Mile Beach, but a little more scenic for those with their snorkeling gear handy. You can rent a car for around 80.00us.You can see the cruise ships from here even though you are on the other side of the island! If you change your mind and get brave, you can rent wave runners and take yourself across the bay to where the sting rays are.....you can't miss the crowd of boats out there.I hope Princess lives up to your expectations and you enjoy your vacation. I liked your pic's you posted...not sure which one is you....:)

ANYTHING CLOSER TO THE PIER??? WHERE COULD YOU RENT A CAR FROM ANYWAY??? IS IT NEAR THE PIER?? THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN, LOOKING FOR SOMETHING CLOSER, PERHAPS WITHIN NICE WALKING DISTANCE, OR SHORT CAB RIDE... IS 7 MILE BEACH FREE TO WALK AROUND AND LAY OUT ON ??

Yes, you can carry on your carry-on. At least I've always done it on 10 Princess cruises. I wouldn't even think of handing it over for later delivery, that's why it's a carry-on.

The coaches used by Princess for transfer differ all over the world. I can't remember any not having adequate lower level luggage storage although I think twice about my carry-on . My husband and I will take separate seats if I opt out (so we have room on the seat beside us for our carry-ons).

Yes, there's a hair dryer. On the Dawn Princess, we even had two electrical outlets instead of the expected one outlet.

Food is rather subjective. I like most of the food on Princess (once to Tahiti the Regal was so-so) and I'm a Norma's fan (near Tavern on the Green).

There are hairdryers on the ship, however, they are not in the bathroom. They are hanging on the wall beside the desk, which has a great big mirror. They are fine for most people. If you have long or thick hair, bring your own dryer. I have very thick hair and was glad I did.

I used, http://www.andys.ky/classes.htm. He was OK. You should pre book or it will cost more if you just show up.If you stay close to the pier it will be VERY busy.On the other side of the island you see blow holes in the coral which is different to see. Most cruisers walk down the beach.....but if there is a few ships in at that time it will be very crowded!!

The swim with the Stingrays is very laid back. Your basically standing on a sand bar out in the ocean. I am not in good physical condition and loved the feeding and holding and learning about the stingrays. Walking around Grand Cayman is fun too. The water
is just great it is clear. Have fun.

Actually i dont want to swim with the sting rays thats why im asking for any other suggestions. the only thing we can think of is renting mopeds..... has someone been to GC that hasnt swam with the sting rays, sont know what other ships will be in GC but my DH isnt big on lying on the beach all day, and seeing how we are doing that in Princess Cays, and Costa MAya, i dont think 7 mile beach will go over big with him,,, shopping were really not into, has anyone gone on a pier tour, booked on their own, or rented mopeds..... i cant believe we are leaving in 16 days WHOOO HOOO

We just came back from a Princess Cruise and stopped in Grand Cayman. Going off on your own is fine, but be aware that the ship does not stay in port very long and you have to tender into shore. You might want to go on line with Princess and check to see what other tours they are offering. We did the See and Sea which wasn't too bad, and we got to see a bit of the island. We also went to Hell and back. We were with a large group that didn't like the beach, so this was a nice alternative. I noticed they also offered horseback riding on one of the tours. Whatever you do, enjoy..

ill post a review when i come home,,, i hope that its not reversed here....

with carnival i was not expecting much and had a good time, despite the lousy food...

with princess i am expecting a lot and i hope im not dissapointed.. im sure i wont be, we have fun no matter where we are or what were doing, however i know that carnival owns princess so i am hoping that the food portions have been maintained to be adult servings, cause on carnival they were really itty bitty,,,,

cruisins what you make it, vacation is vacation no matter wether your in a tent 20 minutes from your house, or a million miles away at sea, we are just happy we could afford it , back to back as we did, and that well be together. i am celebrating my 25 birthday on the cruise !!!!!

gclark , did you mean will i gt on the internet on the boat,,,,, prob not, im on vaca :)

I am 26 and 3 years ago went on Carnival and loved it. I would have to say I enjoyed the Princess cruise I just got back from last Sunday as much as I did Carnival. I left a review in the review section of this forum.

We loved Grand in 2000 and are going again in March. Hope that Carnival has not changed. Food was great.
