Late Baggage?

I heard that our baggage may not get to our cabins until later in the night on the 1st day. Don't we get on the ship w/our bags in hand? Or do we drop them for security purposes? I'm just trying to figure out if I should pack clothes and other essentials in my carry on. Thanks

HI KID!!!

When you get to the pier you will be greeted by the baggage porters at curbside. Make sure your luggage is tagged (You will receive your luggage tags with your cruise documents) You will leave the suitcases with them and tip them $1.00 or so per bag...if you have 4 suitcases then you might give the porter $5.00. You will keep your carry-on luggage with you and it will be screened on the X-ray machine before you get on the ship.

The luggage usually arrives at your cabin within a few hours after boarding. Look out in the hall (passageway) and you will see it eventually. You should have it before you go to lifeboat drill.

Be sure to pack a small carry on to keep our med's, change of clothes, cosmedics, toiletries .......... If you only have one bag or can handle your bags your self, you CAN take them on with you.

You can only take your bags on yourself if they can fit through the xray scanner. The scanner is just like those at the airport for carryons. If your luggage can't fit through that, it will have to be checked.
If you are boarding early, not all rooms are ready and Celebrity asks that you wait in the public areas or enjoy the lunch buffet while waiting. You don't want to have to cart around all your luggage while enjoying the ship.

We took Celebrity Zenith from NYC to Bermuda last October. Half of our luggage was there when we reached our room and the other half came while we were at (early) dinner. They ripped the outer bag of my husband's golf bags and cruise insurance had a deductible of $250 and the bag was worth less than that. They did velcro and try to keep the rip from getting worse.
