I wanted to share Cindy's latest update on Elliott (just released)...
Where do I start. Elliott went to school Friday. Hope he enjoyed it. He is done, at least for the foreseeable future. They are going to do a liver bioposy on Thursday. He has to be there at 11 and has to stay for 6 hours after. He will return home late on Thursday. The head of the transplant unit is pretty sure it is graft vrs host. Let's just say I hope so. That way we have an answer. And the solution is to put him back on steroids and cyclosprone. Both of those as well as graft vs host weaken his immune system. That is why, along with all the potential of virus at school, that he needs to stay home. It is also their hope that the meds take care of the foot since they really don't know what it is. Next Tuesday he goes for a mold to be made of his foot and then about a week later, he will have a specially designed brace for his leg. Hopefully he will be able to get around a bit. Since we are leaving him home alone now, I am concerned. We cannot stay home all the time and walking is almost impossible. I am leaving Elliott a lunch each day with him so he can at least have an easy time getting feed. I hate all the stuff that keeps on happening here. The meds he will need to go back on were of course the most expensive of his meds. One of them is $120 out of pocket a month. So for now, he is resting in his room and we hope by Friday to have some definite clue to his issues.
=hugs Elliott, Cindy and Dan
