Hi Bingoboy!
Just back from a wonderful cruise on Spirit - Fire & Ice - visiting Hawaii and then onto Alaska. On the Riveria deck, there is a laundry. Very small - has 2 washing machines and 4 dryers - all coin operated. The washing machine is $2.00 (you will need 8 quarters per load) as well as the dryer - and the powder for each load is $1.00 - for which you will need quarters too. The laundry is not open on port days. We found that if you visited late at night or early morning - and I do mean early, eg 6am, you can often find it empty. We found that we could also hang up items like jeans, tshirts, etc. on coathangers after washing and hang them on the trim that encased the lights in our stateroom (quite safe - our cabin steward hung our surprise towel animal up there a couple of times and we left him there for the whole cruise!!) which allowed larger items to dry quite adequately. There is also a clothesline (only suitable for undies) in the shower. Found this a nuisance more than anything as if clothes had not dried, you would need to move them to have a shower. Also found the irons in laundry were chipped at the pointy end - hence if you ironed anything, it would catch the fabric and pull, but you learnt to avoid it quickly!! Also the pursers office was open early for coin, but we had a small bowl - and added quarters to this at any chance. Carnival also offered an opportunity of sending your clothes (selected) to have them washed and dried for $15.00. Most comments on this service was not very good. Also pack a couple of coathangers as the ones in the cupboard are not individual but grouped on the one hook.
Any other queries please feel free to ask!! Have a wonderful cruise!
