LE BISTRO TIPS

Hey fellow cruisers:
I've never sailed on Norwegian, so I'm just wondering about the tipping policy regarding waiters. If I eat at Le Bistro everyday, is it necessary to pay the waiter portion of the pre-paid tips or should I tell the purser to eliminate that amount? Thanks for your help.

P.S. Does Le Bistro change its menu throughout the cruise?

We ate at Le Bistro once on the NCL Star,no you do not remove tipping,in fact you should tip more as this is a specialty restaurant and they serve you extra special, its a very small restaurant and cosy, intimate, romantic, you usually get 2 to 3 waiters waiting on you,all very nice and doing their most to make your evening special,we celebrated our 10th anniversary their, upgraded our wine choice and got package special. It was great and worth the special rate extra you have to pay and extra tipping!Hope this helps

THank you. I was just wondering if the any of the $12.50 surcharge went to tipping the waiters. Thanks for your tips.

AJcost, this is a question that comes up often and everyone has a different answer. Each answer is backed by "someone told me this" I don't think any of us know for certain, so we just give the wait staff an extra $5 to $10 depending. If there are more of you, then increase it some. Look at it this way, with all the money we seem to spend on the ship what's another few bucks. Now, if you do plan on eating there every night that's a different story. We usually eat in the specialty restaurtants twice. No the menu does not change, but there are about 3 or 4 selections: all very good I may add. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks NMnita. I like your point about it being an extra few bucks: We all already spent a whole lot on the cruise, so a couple more bucks wont hurt.

The surcharge in the premium restaurants does not include an additional gratuity for service. Therefore, when dining in a restaurant with a surcharge, it is appropriate to add a tip that's appropriate to the size of the surcharge.

I think anyone who thinks they are obligated to tip anyone on NCL after they charge you a $10.00 day service charge is a fool. I you get extraordinary service and I do not mean filling your water glass etc. then tip - but do not think you have to.
