I will be on the same cruise and I live in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is a big city and your question is too broad for me to answer.1) What kind of hotel are you looking for? One of my favorites is Embassy Suites. I stayed in the one near LAX a long time ago. My suggestion would be to try Hotwire and Priceline.2) What kind of night life are you looking for. One of my favorite spots is the Top of Five. It is a family bar (under 21 is okay) that turns (once every hour). However, it is in downtown which is about 15 - 20 miles from LAX.There is a Ports o' Call (like Fisherman's warf) near the pier with a trolly that runs between the two. The fare is $1.00 per day (not per trip). The Queen Mary hotel is near by (about five minutes away) if you want to get an early start on your cruise by having a pre-cruise night stay on an ocean liner. You could go to the Santa Monica pier if you just want to blow off a little energy (depending on how tired your arms are after flying into LAX).
