Just heard on the evening news that the Carnival Legend ended it's cruise a day early due to outbreak of virus affecting 70 passengers. Some passengers quarentined in cabins for 3 days. No refunds for passengers.

I just heard that it was brought back into port 4 days early. Needless to say the reports didn't talk about refunds but that doesn't mean they won't happen......don't know. Leaving in two weeks on the Spirit......... scour that baby to the bone!!!!

I believe there are some precautions that can be taken, simple but effective. Most importantly it's not a guarantee anyone WILL be affected.

Wash your hands often, don't touch your eyes, nose and mouth. Too my understanding the virus thrives around the buffet areas. IE: People sneezing, touching the same serving utensils. The affected man sneezes in his hand, touches the serving utensil, you of course are the unfortunate one who is behind the man who just sneezed, you touch the serving spoon, touch your face.. WHAMO!

Look, I don't mean to downplay these things, but if you do get infected, the sink and the porcelan goddess becomes your best friend and then your all better in three days.

On my next journey, I'm really gonna try and eat at the regular sit down restaurants.

Most importantly, really. go on your cruise and don't worry about such things. Look, I'd be more worried about some loser boozer or some kiddies ruining my vacation.

Hi
This is my first cruise and we are booked on the Legend for the December 23rd sail date.
This is the first I have heard about any illness.
If anyone hears any more information about this could you please post it here so I can keep updated.
Thank You!

Sue-
There has been a lot of information about it on the cruisecritic.com boards. Also, many postings from people on the same Dec. 23 Legend cruise we are on.

Just a tip. Take clorox wipes and wiped down the bathroom and all door handles in our cabin. Carry a hand sanitizer in your pockets and use often especially if you've touched hand rails, etc.

The clorox wipes and hand sanitizer sounds like a good policy no matter what ship or cruise you are on....

Good luck

On every cruise, I carry on a can of Clorox spray. Before anyone enters the room, I dose it down good....and I mean EVERYTHING. ( floors, comforters, curtains, door handles,bathroom....you name it...it gets covered. ) We place a container of hand sanitizer on the dresser and we put it on EVERY time upon entering and leaving the room. If you just make it automatic...you do it without even thinking. We have been on 3 norwalk cruises...the last being the Norwalk on the Holiday in October where hundreds got sick....(even one of our table mates)....and we (as a family of four) have never gotten ill. This is with two boys that stay in the arcade. One son must use the hand rails when going up and down stairs. I don't know if that is the key...but so far it has worked for us.
