Hello all,

we are currently shopping for our second cruise. Last year, we had great time on the Costa Magica, but want to try another cruise line this year. We started with a few possible choices, but now we are down to two cruise ship, the Legend and the Sun Princess. I would like to get some input about those ships and all that goes with them (services, food, room). What would be your choice and why ? To give you more input, I can tell you that we are 3 to travel : Me (43), my wife (40) and my 10 years old daughter. My daughter won’t go to the kid club. She prefers to do some activities with us (excursion, swimming in the pool, and other activities).

Any advises will be more then welcome!

Daniel

I've been on the Sun Princess but not the Legend of the Seas. I have been on 2 of the Legend's sister ships though. They both equate in size. The Legend has a solarium pool but its adults only (over 16). The Sun Princess does not. The Sun has fresh water pools. The Legend doesn't. Activites are about equal. Cabins are smaller on the Sun Princess. The top few decks have small balconies barely enough for 2 on the Sun. They are more standard on the Legend. The Sun has laundry facilities - The Legend doesn't. There are other differences. When are you planning on going and where to? If there are specific questions just ask. The photo gallery here is good for looking at the ships. For the Sun Princess, look for ones labeled "Cl@ss".

Hello Maureen,

thanks for taking the time to answer to my question. We finally decided that our second cruise will be on the Legend. We will be on the Legend from April 7 to April 14 (Caribbean). It should be a nice cruise....we'll do all it need to make of it a great one. We'll try to not compare this trip to our previous when on the ship (time not well spent). We'll have plenty of time after the trip to talk about the difference and see what we preferred on each one.

Again, thanks for taking of your time to answer my question !

Best regards,

Daniel

We cruised Feb 10-17 on the Legend. It was our first time on this class with eight RCCL cruises under our belt. It is a very nice ship. Because of its size it can get into more ports. Our cabin was on deck 7 mid-ship. It was an excellent location to reach any other location in only a couple of minutes -- not like the much larger ships where you walk a mile to get where you want to go. They have plenty of amenities - Windjammer cafe, Solarium, Spa, pool/hot tubs, library, Internet cafe, coffee shop, Ben & Jerry's, shoppes of centrum, two-tier dining room, etc. The staff and crew were unbeatable. We never passed one staff member without receiving a friendly "hello"! The Captain was always very friendly and visible. He is very upbeat and it is reflected in the staff attitudes. There were a lot of children/teens on board and they were having a ball. At least from our perspective. We loved the Legend and booked again for Feb 2008. Any questions?

Hello yooper42,

thanks for taking the time to give us some good feedback about the Legend ! Knowing that you made 8 cruises with RCCL before this one, I read all your comment with a lot of interest. Your comments about the staff and crew are very positive and this is a good thing. The service we'll get is something important for us.

We started to look at the activities we could do on each port of call. I make a list and once the list will be done, we'll select the activities that suit our taste. Could you tell me what activities you did on each port and comment them?

Also, I read mixed review about the food. I would like to know how it was during your cruise? I like good food and when I travel, it's 50% of my pleasure. I don't ask for quantity, I ask for qualities. When on the Costa Magica last spring, each dinner was a great experience.

A last question. Do you feel that the safe you had in your room was really safe? I have a good camera (Digital reflex) and I would like to bring it. I will carry it with me most of the time, but I'll need to secure it when we'll spend a full day on the beach (we'll do that at least once.

I hope it's not to much Question !

Best regards,

Daniel
