Liberty - Riviera Deck cabins

I've sailed on Carnival 3 times and booked the Carnival Liberty on Feb 21st leaving from Miami. I booked directly through Carnival and got a 6A guarantee cabin. The last couple times I've done this I guess I was lucky since I was upgraded to a balcony. My mom is also going (her first cruise) but we aren't sharing cabins.

Our cabin assignments were released today. We have 1457 and 1461. These are ocean view cabins at the very back of the ship. I'm concerned about this because of engine noise etc.

Also, what is behind the last cabin on the Riviera Deck?? It just seems to be blank space but the Carnival Rep I talked to today said it is a public deck.

Should I be concerned about the location of these cabins??? Carnival is willing to upgrade me (being a PG) for free but not my mom. They were only going to move me up 1 floor and half way down the ship so I thought it probably wasn't worth it for the convenience of being closer together.

I'd really like anybody's thoughts - good and bad

Sorry, I would have answered sooner, but I couldn't type while laughing. This is why I don't book directly with the cruise lines. Some of the reservation reps have no clue, and you spoke to one of them. The space at the stern end of the Conquest class ships, which includes both the Liberty and the Glory, is definitely NOT public space. I have marked the Riviera deck with a red line (in the photo below). The space that the Carnival reps claims is a public deck is where the aft lines are for tieing up the ship, including the necessary winches ...

Given this, I suspect you will hear some noise when the ship docks and undocks. However, I would suspect that you will be awake already, and this should not be a problem.

As for engine noise, I don't have any personal experience. I have been on the bottom deck more than once, but always in the middle. I would suspect that engine noise would not be a problem. First of all, the engines are far below (not directly below) and well sound and vibration proofed.

Thanks so much for your help, after you stopped laughing :) I don't know enough about the ship to tell the guy he was BSing me, but I did suspect something was up. I knew the place to go was here because so many people are multiple cruisers.

I called carnival today and complained. They have now assigned my mom cabin 1236 (middle of front 1st section) and me 2277 (right beside front elevators). They moved me for free and charged $100 for my mom. We've been put on a waiting list for a balcony, but I don't see that happening. It was the best I could convince them to do. At least if mom hates her cabin or there is too much noise we can trade. I would hate for her first cruise experience to be bad because of something so silly.

Anyway thanks again
