We are currently booked w/ Princess for a 3/20/04 cruise the Mexico, our plans are not very flexible, and since this will be this ships second voyage, there is slight chance it could be delayed, and it would be difficult for us to re-book. Our TA brought up the idea of the Carnival Pride. one day later, same place. Tell me your experiences with Carnival, especially the Pride. What did you like or didn't like, and any tips or suggestions. ANY info would help. This is my kids' first cruise and our second, I would like as perfect as possible. I'm having a hard time making a decision--stay with what I have (with a possible delay) or go wth something I am familiar with?
Thank you,
Jacque

I have cruised Princess and Carnival. I prefer Princess but I am sailing on Carnival again in a few weeks. I was very surprised and pleased with how good a job Carnival did, that is one reason I am going back on them. Yes the feel and look of Carnival is different from Princess but the ships are very beautiful, especially the newer ships like the Pride.

The crew on Carnival were very friendly and outgoing. They did an excellent job. Food is always a personal preference but I thought the food on Carnival was as good as Princess and I believe Princess has had some of the best food I have had on 5 different cruise lines.

If you go with an open mind I think you will be very surprised at how great a time and how great of service you can receive on Carnival. It may not turn out to be your favorite cruise line, like I said I still prefer Princess, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the product Carnival puts out. It may actually turn out to be your favorite.

Like I said it impressed me enough to rebook on them even though I prefer Princess. So I say if you feel it would work out better for you go ahead and give them a try. JMHO

I LOVED the Carnival Pride! It is a beautiful ship, and it will be about 2 yrs old when you sail her. I went to the Eastern Caribbean on her when she was about 2 months old, and I couldn't see any problems at all. The statetooms are plenty big, I shared a cabin w/ my parents and there was a ton of space for all our stuff. We had a balcony on deck 7.

The entire ship is gorgeous, and there are a ton of little nooks & crannies to escape to...my favorite being the Sunset Garden on deck 3 forward. The ship, despite it's size is pretty easy to navigate. The staff was wonderful.

There were always plenty of deck chairs, even on sea days. There are also 3 pools - plenty of space for everyone. Even though we went over "spring break" time, I never noticed many misbehaving children!

As you can tell I really loved this ship!

If you love Renaissance artwork or anything about that period of art history, the Pride's decor will blow your mind. I was in absolute heaven and have 19 rolls worth of pictures to prove it. I also sailed on the Pride about 2 months after she debuted and it was the best time I've had in my entire life. I'm a little one sided though, first cause I'm an artist, and second because I've never sailed any other cruise line but Carnival. I keep wanting to book another line and try it out, but Carnival has impressed me time and againand Lord knows I can't beat the price.

Sailed the Pride in April. Loved it. How old are your children? The young ones will love Camp Carnival. If you have young teens they have two places on the ship where they hang out in the evening.

Your kids while not young ones that would enjoy camp carnival, would still probably have a better time on Carnival than Princess.Princess is a much mellower cruise line and in such the activities are laid back compared to Carnival. If I were takeing kids that age group I would go Carnival and the Pride is a great ship.
