Cruising on the Coral Princess Jan 2, 2004. Can't decide which tour to take in Limon. We took CruiseAholic's advice and booked the Ocean to Ocean. Sounds great! In most ports we'll probably not book ship's tours, but I don't think we want to venture out on our own in Limon or the Panama Canal area.

We also are doing the Ocean-to-Ocean. No, I don't think you want to venture out on your own in Limon. We're looking at the Pontoon Boat because it doesn't have the buffet along with it. Personally, I feel safer eating food on the ship. Also, it's shorter and the day before we'll be doing the all day tour in Panama. I figure we'll be ready for a short shore excursion the next day in Limon.

Anyone do either one of these? From what I've read, it got boring after awhile. Is that true?

You're probably right about eating off the ship in Limon. You really don't know how well they wash that fruit. I think the Pontoon Boat goes to the Colon Caribe Estuary and Eco-Adventure goes to the Tortuguero Canal region. I hope someone can tell us which one would be a better tour.

You won't be sorry about the Ocean to Ocean......was with CruiseAholic on that one and it was FANTASTIC ..... but be prepared for rain...take a cheap poncho.......we were undercover on the top deck and still got wet....CA was out on the bow and got soaked.

Sorry, I don't know about the other tours in Limon......we did the Limon Experience .... it was so-so.

Thanks Mgram. We'll be sure to take a raincoat. We've decided to book the Pontoon Boat in Limon. Now we're trying to decide if we want to book the SeaWorld Semi-Sub in Grand Cayman or go to Stingray City on our own. We've been to Grand Cayman a couple of times and have seen Hell and the turtle farm.

The River Eco-Tour was good. It was about an hours bus ride to the boat, and about 30-40 minutes back. On the boat we had an excellent guide who pointed out differenct types of trees, animals, and birds. We saw 3 or 4 different kinds of monkeys, 3 different kinds of sloths, a number of birds, and a gator sunning themselves.

If you have a chance, go earlier in the day. Our tour was about 10:30 to noon, and a lot of animals are hiding from the sun already.

Son and I walked around Limon for several hours without any problems of any kind. There is also a nice crafts center within the docking area.

[I/we would not walk in Colon by ourselves.]
