:helpI live in New Hampshire and generally drive from there to Cape Liberty, Bayonne, NJ in one day for my cruise. (RCCL) Getting tired of doing that and now am looking for a safe place to stay overnight near the port. Just my wife and I traveling. If I do the 2 day affair then the first day can be a leisurely drive to t he hotel. Then the next a day breakfast and drive to the port. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.

I would like to give you some advice about the port itself. The NJ port is not on my favorites list. The port is VERY small. Expect to wait alot, unless you are really lucky. Size is the major problem...when you have nearly 3000 people coming off the boat, and another 3000 coming on...it doesnt run as smoothly as you would like. Also, with the weather still being cold, I would recommend wearing a heavy winter jacket to the port (part of the port is a makeshift tent, with NO heat).

Overall Advice::

Dont come too early, Dont come too late, and be patient.

Hope that helps :)

I live in "Cape Liberty" aka Bayonne, New Jersey. The Royal Caribbean website is sending you quite far from Bayonne.

The next town over, Jersey City, has a few very nice hotels harborside at Newport (about a 15 minute car ride from the entrance to the cruise terminal). On Hotels.com some that I have past by and they look quite nice are: Hyatt Regency on the Hudson, Doubletree Club Suites, Jersey City at Liberty Park, and lastly Courtyard by Marriott. The others that they have listed, other than the Candelwood Suites, which I know nothing about, are basically or at least appear from the outside to be, dives.I wouldn't chance it. These hotels are just across the river from Downtown Manhattan, so you might consider coming in a day or two early, if your schedules permit to enjoy a bit of what New York City has to offer, i.e. restuarant, shows, sight seeing. From the three hotels I mentioned you could walk to the PATH train and go one or two stops into Manhattan for a few hours should you so decide.

Good Luck,
