Lost Luggage

Celebrity lost one of our bags, and found it four hours after we and the last guest's left the ship. They expected us to go back to the port and pick it up. When we told them it would be impossible for us to turn around and go back to Fort Lauderdale and get there before they closed they told us we would have to wait until Monday to make arrangements to get out possessions back. We called (on the following Monday) and told them to send them to us and wondered why we had to call them and tell them to tell them to do something that they have already done. that is, that they should send our luggage back to our house. Imagine our surprise when UPS brought us a COD package. After loosing our luggage Celebrity had the nerve to require us to pay for their negligence.

My husben works for transportantion security and yes they will brake the locks. It is for your own safety. There are signs that say do not lock your bags, they will do it for you when they are done.

It probably depends on the airport. I fly regularly out of Washington/Dulles (there are no signs anywhere that say to not lock your bags). I use the plastic ties and have never been told not to. Washington/Dulles was one of the airports that the terrorists flew out of so you would think that security would be tighter.
