Is there a limit to the amount of luggage? Are you ever separated from your luggage or do you just check in and go to your room with it? Do they inspect your luggage? We want to smuggle on some booze. By the way everyone talks, getting one or two bottles on is not a problem.

We take ours! Often our cabin closet looks like a liquor cabinet. We like to take clear liquors in water bottles and pack them in our checked luggage. We lock our luggage with those electrical ties, too. We've not had a problem with that to date, and our last cruise was after 9/11. Mixers we pack in our carry-ons. I don't recall our carry-ons ever being inspected. Most of the inspections that I've seen happen AFTER the cruise when you disembark.

All carry ons are xrayed just as in airports. Most cruise lines will confiscate liquor detected in carry on luggage. If you put it in your check in luggage, it will almost always get to your cabin intact, assuming it was carefully packed. I have read recently that NCL is now xraying check in luggage and if they suspect any liquor is packed inside, they will segregate that luggage and contact you to appear to witness a search of the suspect luggage. Such aggravation will no doubt run off even more potential cruisers for this cruise line.

You are seperated from your luggage, except for a carry-on. You leave your luggage outside with the ship's porters. It is delivered to your room that afternoon/evening. The last night of the cruise, you set your luggage outside your room to be picked up sometime during the night. After debarkation, you go into a big building and find your luggage, on Carnival and RCCL according to what color tags you have been given to put on your bags.
