MANY DAYS OF ANGUISH AHEAD FOR ALL OF US IN "HURRICANE LAND"
The next several days are going to be filled with much anxiety as we watch the future of powerful hurricane Frances unfold. But first- we have to get through a little event off the Southeast Coast named "TD #7". The NHC is forecasting the depression to become a weak tropical storm as it makes landfall in northeast South Carolina on Sunday night. The net result of what should be T.S. Gaston will be heavy rain and gusty winds. People in the Carolinas should monitor their local news outlets for local, specific information. I will be out and about on Sunday with the Tahoe and its array of equipment to measure what ever effects the soon-to-be storm bring ashore. It will be a good opportunity to test out some things before the next hurricane makes landfall.

With that being said- Frances could be a threat to land areas late next week. This is me saying that- not the NHC. I am not forecasting Frances to affect land areas, but some long range computer models at least suggest that scenario. Remember that the NHC issues five day forecasts and the 120 hour position for Frances is 22.5N and 70.0W. So we need to keep a close watch on the future track of this hurricane. The advisory mentions that Frances could become a monster category 5 hurricane- at least that is not being ruled out. For now, enjoy the weekend as best as you can- we will have plenty of time to prepare for whatever may be coming next week- if indeed that is an issue at all. We should know a lot more by Monday.
