March 15th too cold for Med Cruise?

I was looking at a Costa Cruise on March 15th. Has anyone sailed this time of year? How cold is it? I guess the pools on the ship wouldn't get much use, right? It sails from Savona to Naples to Palermo - Tunis - Barcelona - back to Savona.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I was wondering the same thing. Sure wish more cruise lines would sail at that time of year. The closest thing I've seen is NCL's cruise at the end of March & that's too late for us.

How do you feel about cruising with Costa? :?

I've never cruised with Costa. I did speak to someone who had gone on the Magica and said it was FANTASTIC. We've decided that our 16 year old son would be happier not spending all that time flying (he hates to fly) and then being dragged around to see all the stuff we want to see. Since it will be cooler, there would be little if any pool/beach time. So we are going to the Caribbean instead, much simpler. Mediterranean will be in a couple more years without any kids.

Boy, I couldn't agree more. We have an almost 18 yr. old and a 15 yr. old. They HATE to fly too. :lol The only time we went to Europe was in Bus. Class and they even hated that. =dunno

I thought going in March would be perfect for avoiding the crowds and the temp. would be so much cooler. My oldest DS begged us not to take him. He said he could care less who was born here, what church this is, how important that building is, blah, blah, blah. I guess I can't blame him too much because I felt the same way at his age.

The only way I can entice them is by telling them we'll go to the Ferrari factory and stop by the Pagani Factory too. :lol Boys! :roll

I think we'll be waiting until just the two of us can go too. :)

We were in Southern Italy once in April and it was still cold.

What is the best time for a Med cruise?

Nellie,

There is no "right" answer to the best time for Mediterranean cruises, but I like mid-October.
The crowds are way down from those during summer months, the stifling summer heat is gone,
and some prices will have began to drop. I would NEVER do Europe again in July or August.
The crowds at the tourist sites mean long lines everywhere, and the heat can be brutal.

Well, we're going to the Med on Jade on Feb 15th mainly because it won't be as cold as northern England (also because we love the Jade and it's pretty cheap.)! We're taking winter gear and rain macs, and plenty of layers of clothes, but we prefer going round tourist spots when it's not hot or crowded. I'm looking forward to seeing Ephesus without the sunscreen and sweat like the last time(Sept).-jocap
