Isla Margarita is an interesting island -- the main town is a long bus ride away but for once in a lifetime, what the heck?If you choose not to go to Guamache, there are some little shops in the terminal where I found some wonderful coffee - cheaper than Jamaica and just as good. The vendors are not bothersome at all - quite friendly and polite. There is a very small beach near the port but not sure how the swimming is - the beach is a short walk and you can come back to the ship for lunch.All in all, unless you were planning an excursion to Caracas, the switch to Margarita is probably better than LaGuaira, which is a bit depressing. My advice is make the best of it - after all - it's part of a cruise!!!
