We will be on the Mariner for Mother's Day - May 10. RCCL just changed our ports from Mx Rivera to Astoria, Victoria and Seattle. I sure hope it's not going to be too cold and rainy.

When you stop at Astoria (approximate population of 10,000) you will be increasing the city's population by38.44% that day if the ship is sailing at capacity.

=funsign on your cruise =sailor

That would stink if you were really looking forward to your cruise and now you are going North. I know they are letting people get refunds and stuff but still sucks that you had this planned and now you either aren't going or you are going to Oregon in May instead of Mexico.

We have booked this cruise on Mariner of the Seas for Mexico. Now it is going north. There is no way on earth that I will cancell this cruise. I booked this cruise to see the ship.

We were booked on the Mariner May 31st sailing to Mexico. We didn't want the cold as we don't even own jackets here in the AZ desert. We rebooked the Liberty Western Caribbean on May 30th. I am so pleased. I now get an extra vacation day, and am going to the caribbean(my favorite place) Southwest was great the fee for changing PHX to LAX now PHX to FLL was 165.00 for the both of us so we are on cloud nine.

We were booked on June 7th and opted to cancel. Our friends just returned yesterday and said the weather was awful - cold and rainy. Everyone was complaining that they did not get the compensation as offered. We got a call from Royal Caribbean yesterday ( a week after cancelling) practically begging us to reconsider and offereing us the moon (but not in writing). No thanks!!!

How do you know what the weather will be like on June 7? Azmavis, what do you mean exactly by "everyone was complaining that they did not get the compensation as offered?" Compensation for what? Please elaborate.

Because of the change in itinerary, we were told that our options were either to cancel, book a different cruise (at whatever price was the going rate) and receive $100 each in on board credit, or stick with the new itinerary and receive $500 in on board credit plus $500.00 each for a future cruise to Mexico on either the Mariner or the Radiance. We initially decided to stick with the original cruise (only because of the compensation being offered and the fact that we are already booked on the Radiance later this year and were told the $1000 could be used for that trip). We are from the west coast and the weather is always bad in June so were dfinately not thrilled about the new itinerary. We cruise a lot (Diamond Plus) primarily for the sunshine and beaches. I requested the offer in writing but was told they couldn't do that, but not to worry it would happen automatically once on board. A week later, I received a call from RCCL saying they made a mistake and the compensation would only be $350.00 per cabin. I cancelled. Our friends opted for a last minute trip as they were practically giving it away due to the number of cancellations. They met several people on board, that said they were offered similar compensation as we were, but once on board were told it was a "mistake", At least we got a call ahead of time and were able to cancel. I have since written a letter but yet to see a response.

Now it all makes perfect sense. Thank you for the details, azmavis. You made the right decision and I would have done the same. To this point I have been very happy with RCCL, but this "mistake" business has me concerned. Even if the original offer was higher than it should have been, they should have honored it anyway. In light of the fact that you have spent mega-bucks with RCCL, they could have eaten the $150 overage and chalked it up to the cost of doing business, in my opinion. My guess is that RCCL will not want to alienate a Diamond Plus customer, especially in this economy, and that you will hear from them. I hope you will keep us posted. Neil

We sailed on May10th sailing. As far as the comment "everyone was complaining", I didn't hear any "complaining". We all knew ahead of time that the intinerary had been changed. I was offered the $350 OBC and did received it. We got a letter delivered to our stateroom stating the $350 certificate for a future cruise on either the Mariner OTS or Radiance OTS would be mailed to us.
The weather on the cruise was mostly cool and overcast. We never experience and downpour of rain at any time. I recall a trickle and mist one day. When we arrived in Astoria, OR it was overcast, but the sun did come out. In Victoria and Seattle we had a very, very light shower, which came and went within a few minutes.
Sailing away from Seattle (Thurs) the sun was out and people were out on the pool deck. Friday and Saturday was beatiful and even got sunburn. All in all it was a fun cruise. Wasn't the intinerary I would have booked, but I'm glad we went on it. I mainly choose this cruise because of the ship.
The Mariner of the Seas is a beautiful ship and her crew was outstanding. We had a blast and so did my young adult children.
We are also booked on the Radiance OTS later this year. We were going to take our grandchildren along with us, but now I think I would rather sail the Radiance without them and book another cruise on the Mariner with them.
