We used to receive the Mariner Magazine on a regular basis when we first began to cruise with them in the 70's, and then we received one only on occasion for several years. Now since we have begun cruising with them more these past couple of years, the magazine has shown up again. I guess like everyone else, they are trying to save a few dollars here and there where they can. Has anyone received the Mariner's Recognition cruise list for 2004?

I first sailed with HAL in 2000. Since then I've gotten one Mariner mag. And I HAVE called the HAL offices to ask why... no answer...

My DH and I are both Mariners -but we get 1 magazine! In all probability the discrepancy in numbers are one magazine to a family!Anne:daisy:usa:CO

On the 14th, I sent an e-mail to HAL stating that I had not recieved a copy of my mag and this is the response I recieved less then 10 minutes ago.

"Thank you for your email requesting a copy of the Mariner Magazine. We
will send our current issue, Spring 2003 to you tomorrow.

We look forward to welcoming you on board again in the near future.
Please be sure to check out our website at www.hollandamerica.com for
the most up to date information on itineraries and rates."

So, if you aren't getting your mags, you can go to the HAL website and go to the Mariner Society webpage and drop them an e-mail.

We received the magazine once after we cruised on the Maasdam in 1999. Since then we haven't sighted one. I sent an email to them in October last year and later on in December asking why we haven't received any. We are still waiting for a reply! Is Australia too far away from the US for us to receive the magazine? We are still customers wherever we live and they certainly happy to take our money.

Not sure about all the, Jennie, but my mag came last week, just as they said they would send.

I'd try e-mailing again, or maybe calling.

Best of luck

I emailed them on Mon. about the same thing.....no mags. and they emailed me back the next day saying how many mariners there are etc. and they would make sure I got a mag. in future. Their brochure says that when you become a Mariner, you WILL receive the magazine. I totally feel their brochures need rewriting as there are so many discrepancies in them now a days....jean

I e-mailed and called Mariners Office some months ago to request we get any mail at all......They were very lovely on the phone; e-mailed me back; and sent one copy to us at that time.

Since then we have received no mail of any sort from them.

I happened to be in my TA's office and he had the newest issue sitting on his desk and when I commented I cannot get my hands on any mail from HAL, he gave me his.

Gee....we only take about 6-8 HAL cruises a year. One would think they could spare a copy for the two of us. :(

You know S7S, I was thinking the same thing.
We have a group of 14 tied to us on our next cruise, and that they didn,t send us a Mag, but they will send out any brochure to where-ever to anybody any time they ask.
I can see if you have not cruised with them in 2 years, and drop you from there list, but people like you, or even us you would expect to get the Magazine.

I sent the following e-mail to HA asking about the Mariner Mag and promo notices:

"According to HA's web site Mariners are offered "Preferred pricing on
many Holland America cruises". How are Mariners notified? I have not
received a Mariner publication since spring of 2002. Furthermore, I
have read on message boards of promotions that are not listed in the
Mariner magazine. Is there an e-mail notification list for Mariners?
If there is, could I please be included?"

I received the following reply (Note the number of Mariners registered:

"Thank you for your message telling us how to stay in touch with you via
email. We have changed our records to reflect your email address as
requested. We have over 4 million Mariner numbers and, in some cases,
the addresses for mailings are selected (in some cases) weeks in advance
of when they are received. Rest assured we have taken the necessary
steps to ensure that you continue to hear from us periodically
throughout the year."

Of course, I provided my e-mail to The Mariner Society years ago. So, we'll see.
