how's the dog/house sitter doing? I remember you asking for prayers some time ago; and I came across my written prayer list and saw "Shipmaven's dog sitter / house sitter"; just wondering how she's doing.

And how are YOU?

Hucc, I was just thinking the very same thing yesterday. It was the husband that was diagnosed with the cancer. They have several small children, I believe. Such a tough thing to face, having to worry about your family when you yourself are facing a crisis such as this.
Any good updates to share ShipMaven?

Hugs, Mari

Hucc and Mari - thank you so much for asking. Jeff started radiation/chemo about two weeks ago. I believe the chemo is 2 weeks on, 1 week off, and the radiation is 6-8 weeks. I could be wrong on those figures. I appreciate your prayers, and so do he and his wife.

How are you two feeling??

As for me (thanks for asking), I continue to have post-op complications. I'm getting treatment for swelling in my legs - caused by the surgery trauma - so I have a temporary reprieve from wearing "Lazarus", the brace.

Mary Ann, thank you for the update. The family has been on my mind and in my prayers. As for you, I'm praying that the current treatments will help and you won't have to raise Lazarus.

That is a real problem after surgery so often. Have you ever tried to put
the ironing board against the lounge, then lying there for about 5 minutes
with your legs raised? As things improve, you can lie there longer?

BTW yes, It was both the Mariposa and the Monterey. Once the funnel had
the big M and the second time, the funnel was changed to the Bear!
I have always thought the Matson Line is why I have always liked the look
of HAL.
Our Prayer circle is going full bore at the moment: just wish there was a
smidgeon more happiness.

Thank you, Bev and Sailing_gal. Your prayers are very much appreciated.

I do have a wedge on which to elevate my legs, and they're currently wrapped in elastic bandages. All I need is a broom and I'm ready for Hallowe'en!

Although I never sailed on the Mariposa or Monterey, they looked like beautiful little ships. For anyone who may be interested, here's a nice link on these lovely ships:

Mary Ann - =hugs I am so sorry that you are having complications from your surgery and hope that you can get some relief by elevating your legs.

Prayers for your friends are being sent.

Meg - thank you so much, but my problems are minor compared to what you go though. Please know that you continue on my prayer list.
