Hey all,
My boyfriend and I will be traveling on Valor in October doing a Western Caribbean itinerary (stops in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan). We are thinking about shore excursions, and looking for a little advice. We would really like to see some Mayan ruins during the trip and are trying to decide what would be the best excursion for that. Feedback? We were thinking of doing Altun Ha because Carnival has an excursion there that isn't the entire day (so we'd have time to do something else like snorkeling or something). We love to snorkel and don't really want to miss out on the amazing snorkeling that we hear is available in both Belize and Cozumel. Does anyone know of any "Mayan ruin/snorkeling" types of combo excursions, whether they are with Carnival or not? And finally, I've read a few posts about Belize being a little dangerous - what does everyone think about that? Thanks!!!!

You are doing my favorite itinerary. Since I live in the desert, when I am down island, I am either in the water or under it. We did the ruins thing in Costa Maya one time. Not my thing but some people find it very interesting.

In Belize, one of my favorite ports, I wouldn't bother even going out of the tourisim village where the tenders drop you off. Make sure you have a rum punch at the Wet Lizard bar. Take an excursion out to the little islands off shore. Snorkeling the reef in Belize, Roatan and Cozumel is awesome and Stingray City in Grand Cayman is a must see.

Here are my suggestions for your ports:

Our favorite in Belize

We use Eagle Ray Divers in Cozumel, the three reef snorkel.

Stingray City in Grand Cayman

We arranged a snorkel in Roatan through this dive resort

You'll love the Exotic Western Caribbean itinerary so =funsign
