Since Chichen Itza is now a "wonder of the world" everyone wants to see it. We opted instead to go to Uxmal which is close to Chichen Itza. It is beautiful without the huge crowds that go to CI. We had two tour guides, one talked to us on the bus to Uxmal and the other gave us the tour once we were there. There are huge pyramids and lots of ruins to see. We could climb one of the pyramids, while I believe I read recently that there is no more climbing at CI. We did the tour through Carnival and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you go during the summer, it is very hot at either place so take good walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We did not take bug spray nor did we need it. The bus trip to Uxmal was about 1 3/4 hours and about 1 1/2 hour return. We arrived back at the Progreso Terminal with about an hour to shop and get back on the ship. Hope you have a great cruise.
