How many specialty resturants are there on the Mercury?

Can you tell me about them..Good food? Worth the extra? How much extra?

Does the Mercury Itinerary reflect shore time? Does Celebrity change times when we go in and out of time zones?

Thank ou

Jean

Sorry no specialty resturants on any of the century class ships, although you can eat in the alternate resturant (Palm Springs Cafe) with a reservation (same menu as the dinning room). Hope this helps

As Ric stated they do not have a speciality restaurant, but do have
alternate dining.
We have not tried it but some table mates have. They say the food and experience is excellent.
Unless there has been a recent change there is a $25 per person charge.
For us it is not worth it. we find the food in the regular restaurant to be very good to excellent.
Celebrity changes time zone as they enter a new one. The itinerary reflect the local time for the area you are visiting.
Hope this helps.

Don't mean to contradict you W.B., but I really believe that the $25 p.p. charge is only for the specialty resturants (which I have thoroughly enjoyed) that are only found on the millennium class ships. The Mercury (and other century class ships) has alternate dinning ( by reservation) in an area of the Palm Springs Cafe, located on the pool deck. Many people find the expereince slightly more relaxing than the main dinning room, however, unlike the specialty restuarnts, the menu is usually the same, or very similar to the dinning room's menu. Last I knew the charge was only $2 p.p, which covers gratuities. Maybe you might want to email celebrity just to clarify.

RIC, Sorry, I goofed. I was thinking about the Millennium, or the Summit, in the answer about the alternate restaurant. Thanks for the correction. Regards, W. B.

I certainly don't think you'll be keel hauled for getting a few ships mixed up when you were just trying to be helpful to another cruiser :), No apology necesary W.B., but thanks anyway - in the meantime, happy cruising!

Hi JSR. I have been on the Mercury twice. I went to Alaska on it about four months ago.
I ate at the Palm Spring Cafe several times. It has a totally different menu than the main dining room. They had great food. I liked their french fries.
The waiter takes your order and then you go serve yourself the appetizer, salad, and soup. You then ask the waiters to take your tray to your table. When the entree is ready they bring it to your table. They give you a lot of food. They charge a $2. TIP to your cruise card for service. I also gave the waiter an extra tip in cash. I used to joke with them that if they didn't give us great service I wouldn't tip them the $2. DOLLARS. The
fee is optional if you feel the service wasn't great. It was a cool place to eat dinner because you could feel the breeze coming in from the outside.

They have a great breakfast, and lunch buffett. I like to eat in the main dinning room
because they serve great EGGS Benedict , and Lox and bagels. I plan to try the Salmon omellets on Nov. 22nd when I cruise again on the Mercury.

You must remember to go to the TEA TIME buffett at 4P.M. They have lots of sandwiches, cookies, pastries, fruit, etc. I take plastic baggies to take some of the goodies to my cabin. You can also take a plate of food to your room. I don't like to bother with room service because the workers work soooo hard for the little money they get. They only get $25. DOLLARS EVERY TWO WEEKS. I tip them all well. They depend on tips. That is why the service is great.

I will see you at the Cruise Critic Party on Nove. 22nd. Lucy Ramirez, Cabin #8231.

Do you have early sitting or late sitting for dinner. Handy hint. You should plan for early sitting because of your child going on this trip. Late dinner is over by 9:30-10p.m.
You can always change from early to late sitting. But it is very hard to change from late to early because there are usually 200 persons wanting to change to early sitting.
I have early sitting so if I want to change to late it will be easy to do.

Luci thanks for the information. Esp. about the 4 o'clock Tea buffet, that is usually our snack time.

We have always taking second seating even when our daughter was 3. We are more night people then morning. We have to drag her out of the kids club at 1:00 am. but thanks. One day we wil try the early seating.

Looking forward to meeting you. I am easy to recognize because I use a wheelchiar full time. have you gone to the cruisecritic site and introduced yourself.
I think earyone is going to wear something from thier favoriate sports team or from were they live.

Take care

Jean

Just came off the Millinnium and by far the best $50 we ever spent was for the Olympic Resturant. Now will find it hard to justify any Celebrity Ship without a speciality resturant. Great food ,Great wine list and great service.

Ate there twice.

specialty rest.

no, the mr does not have specialty rest. that is on the newer celeb ships.

and yes the times included are done in the appropriate shore times.

and yes they do adjust the clocks to reflect the time zone your in at that time.

even though the mr does not have alt dining rest, the island grill is really good. it is the causal sit down service.

and their is no fee except for the 2pp mentioned above, and i must agree the 4pm tea is classic.
