I have not seen this topic before and to be truthful not to sure if this is the place to post this question. So before you rip my head off or rip me a new one please be nice and re read the above line. With that being said......here goes.

Has anyone ever purchased over the counter meds in Mexico and then brought them back to the ship? We are talking about penicillion and the likes. This was brought up in a disscussion about people flying to California and than going across the border to purchase said drugs. Has anyone done this and if so what can be expected once returning to the ship? Again these are legal drugs purchased over the counter, but needing a precribsation in the us.

Lots of people do it. However, to be perfectly honest, it was not cheaper in places like Cozumel like it was in Belize.

For example, in Cozumel a Zpac was $50.00. In Belize, a Zpac was $15.00.

Just always check the expiration dates. That is the biggest complaint I have read.

Last month while in Coz, I went into several "drugstores" and priced a few drugs, Cialis among others. Here in the states, this drug is usually around $10 for a 20 mg pill. The Cheapest I could find it in Coz was $18 for the same pill.

I have on a couple occasions bought augmentin ( an antibiotic )
for a sinus infection.Be sure what you get is sealed and a name brand.
I never had any problem boarding the ship with it but it wasn't like
I have a large bag full.
I don't know whether or not you may be going to Belize but if so, there's an American lady from Louisiana who has a small but neat and clean
pharmacy at the pier area and her prices were cheaper than in Cozumel.

I wouldn't think you would have any problem getting medicine back aboard the ship unless you had a large quantity and had purchased hard drugs.

Thank you for all your input on this subject. I was asking this for a another couple going with us in Oct. Myself, I will pay the US price here at home but for them I am not sure what they will do. Again thanks for all your input.

We also bought drugs in Belize. It was nice to have someone knowledgeable there. My husband thought he had a UTI...she asked if he was allergic to anything and then asked if he had taken such and such a drug before. He had so we bought those and it kept him from having to go to the ships doctor. We bought some more antibiotics at another port....can't remember where now...but I wasn't as confident about them - possibly because I felt the guy selling them was just there to sell them. The lady in Belize was helpful to everyone.
