I can't seem to get an answer on this...are the dinner menus identical for both anytime v tradtional? And no, I am not asking about the specialty restaurants, etc. Just the normal dining rooms. THANKS IN ADVANCE. I can get in at either, just want to make sure the menus are the same.

How are you able to get into either dining room?
I booked traditional, but don't have to go if I decide I like anytime
Do you change your selection with the Maitre d' so people waiting for traditional can get in?

GOT ME!!! (laugh).....I've just been reading the boards and apparently thats what people do...they just don't show up for traditional. From what I read, its not too hard to get on traditional....I went from number 400 something on the wait list to 80 something to confirmed. Go figure.

This is my first Princess and my first Anytime, so I have no clue what I'll do once I board. Gotta check it out.

The one thing about the anytime dining for me is that it's one more thing. Susan and I both have jobs that require a lot of mental exercise and decision making. So when we go on a cruise, we like to be like the lemmings portrayed on the NCL commercials. Let me know what time is dinner time, tell me when it is time for trivia, don't make me decide. On Grand Princess a while back we were mulling over the schedule. When is sunset? When is the Captain's reception? What about the show? We have to work dinner in somewhere. Suddenly Susan just looked at me and said, "This is just too hard". :lol

See now Mike, I'm REALLY anal. I never go to bed without circling everything I want to do the following day on my ships planner. So I wake up, check out only the things that interested me and forget the rest. And yes, it IS comforting to know DING DING - time for happy hour and dinner. And it's nice not to have to explain your preferences more than once to a waiter. ON THE OTHER HAND, whenever I think of keeping the traditional, I'll recall some "not so great" tablemates I got "stuck" with for the duration, and think hmmmm....anytime might not be so bad....LOL

I am pretty anal myself. Susan and I take turns "being the grown up". Meaning that one day I'll make the decisions and another day she will make them. Luckily we share the same interests so we tend to agree with each others decisions.

We always ask for a large table and we have had really good luck with table mates over the years. There was one cruise where one of the ladies was kind of annoying but nothing too bad. On our last cruise one couple was always late and our waiter didn't take our order until they finally showed up which was kind of annoying but again, nothing to open a vein over. Just meant I had time to savor my before dinner martini a little longer.

With our experience with any time dining we pretty much went at the same time every evening anyway with the exception of the one night I mentioned. We just missed having the same table mates to share our days with. We did have dinner with TexasSue several times which was nice.

Yup. I always ask for the largest table (better chances of good conversation) and don't you HATE those couples....you would think after they see the 6-8 faces staring at them, tapping their toes, when they finally waltz in 20-25 minutes late, they would get the hint. But they do it night after night. LOL.

I've had 85% good/great table mates and just a few I didn't care for. Not annoying...but boring. Nothing to say, just looked at their food and ate.
