Celebrity's Mercury will be stopping here. The Mercury is doing a 7 day Inside passage out of Seattle return in 2004. The itinery posted on the Celebrity web site shows the ship in during the hours of 8PM to 11:59 PM. I'm guessing that it will be a nice entrance into the harbour but that the time there and those evening hours will not allow one to do much as far as tours etc. Sort of like that San Juan nite time call but good Old Prince Rupert is not likely to be warm nor does it have the night clubs/casinos and a great Fort.

NOT

UPDATE: MAY/04

APPARENTLY AND FOR A REASON I CAN NOT DETERMINE JUST YET. . The stop in Rupert wiil be for an hour. There will be no tours and pax will not be allowed to leave the ship. The city of Prince Rupert is really disapointed to say the least. And there were going to be some prety interesting tours. Anyhow my uneducated guess is they finally did the math on how long it was going to take them to get back to Seattle and removed the time from being in Port.
I'm wondering if it has to do with the PAX act/Jones thingy?

Hi!

If memory serves me correctly, Prince Rupert is in BC, yes? Well, I used to work on Cruise ships (Sagafjord, Vistafjord, QE2, Royal Viking Sun, ...) and any ship departing and returning to a US port must visit one port outside of the US during the voyage. I cannot recall exactly why, but I do know that this is mandatory and so the stop in Prince Rupert is merely a formality. Hope that this answers your question!
