Mercury Staterooms

Howdy folks,

My wife and I just booked on the May 20, 2005 sailing of the Mercury to Alaska. We booked a concierge class stateroom on the Sky deck, room 1201 (midship). However, we were also offered room 1241 (rear, same deck). I was hoping to get some insight on whether one room is better than the other (we can switch), and if the concierge class is really worth the extra $90 a person or so (again, so we can switch if need be).

Thanks, and best wishes.

Keep 1201. Location is great. Extra $$ definitely worth it. 1241 is close to basketball court - may get noise from ball bouncing. 1201 location is better. Any cabin on Deck 12 is terrific - very little passenger traffic due to small number of cabins on that deck. Believe me, you will love it. Amenities for concierge class will be worth the few extra dollars. Pillow menu, nice thick robes and towels, daily fresh fruit - and you get priority service (check-in, tendering, bar service) because your seapass is gold (as opposed to white-colored for all other passengers).

I agree, we had SS 1202 some years back and really enjoyed it. The balconies on the Sky deck are almost as large as the cabin. I think you will enjoy the extra touches in CC class - basically you get everything as a suite..... except the butler service.
