Mexico cruise on the Oosterdam

I have a group of 7 ladies taking a cruise in March on the Oosterdam. We were wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what shore excursions to do while in Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.

Thanks for any input!

What type of activities interest you and the ladies? Simple sightseeing, "adventure" type tours, lazing on a beach?

Once we know your interests -- there will be a lot people by to suggest tours.

Which sailing are you going on? We just booked the Oosterdam for 3/20.

I will be most interested to hear what you think of the Oosterdam and your Mexico cruise. I've always been afraid to take it because nothing has impressed us in Mexico yet. We live on the west coast and prefer to go north... we always long for green and cool air because most of the year we are blue skies and full of HEAT.

You must be in California. We're in Washington (state that is). The weather channel has just chosen Seattle as the best winter weather spot. That is so funny! We just happened to have the warmest January on record, but that was totally not normal.

Also interested in a Mexico cruise, but only because it would be a new destination. Not a fan of sun. Wish there were more and different itineraries in Alaska. How many times can one go to Juneau and Ketchikan?

Flying is now the pits, but the only way to get to the east coast for cruises. So we suck it up and fly!

If you're tired of the routine 7 night itineraries, you might want to check Amsterdam's 14 night itinerary if you have the time. It's fabulous.

Amsterdam's new 14 day Alaskan cruise has a couple of new ports: Kodiak Island and Homer. Also the ship will spend time in Anchorage -- 8 AM until 11 PM.

We're from the East Coast and have not yet been willing to fly trans-continent to sail Oosterdam/Mexico. We've sailed all the HAL ships at least once and most many more times but Oosterdam and Prinsendam are the two we have not sailed. One of these days, I shall have to drag myself aboard whichever miserable aluminum tube and make the flight to San Diego to sail Oosterdam. I'd like to see that ship but I keep putting it off. We won't be sailing Alaska so looks like it has to be Mexico.

Hope when you return, you'll post some comments what you think of the ship.
We've sailed Noordam, Zuiderdam and Westerdam (her sisters) and really enjoyed them. Noordam's the best IMO

Have a great time.
