Microscopic

I hope it was a typo, but I don't think it is.

While researching a future cruise on Pride of America for next summer, I discovered that outside cabins on this ship are a tiny 144 square feet. Can that be right? I can see that on an inside cabin, but an outside, seems rather puny. Of course, I'm going on the cruise anyway.

not surprised ... NCL is not known for having large cabins

you should see the outsides on the NCL Majesty... some are 106 s.f. ... Not good. :)

This ship is the Norweigen Sky renamed for 2004. It was originally built for another cruise line and was under construction when the ship builder went bankrupt. NCL later purchased the partially finished boat and adapted it to their needs. Apparently that is why the cabins are microscopic.
My family and I are headed out on the Sky on November 16 so we will see how it is.

I just got back from a cruise on the Sky. I had an "upgraded" inside cabin, yet it looked nothing like the brochure, which showed room enough for a table and chair, nice if you wanted room service. Mine had no such table and chair, there being no room. It was cramped enough for one, let alone 2 or more.

NCL Sky..... I've been on the ship. The room was supposed to be a 'mini-suite'.... but the "couch" was the size of an overstuffed chair, and getting by the bed had to be done sideways...

very tiny rooms on that ship!

beautiful ship , though, otherwise :)

This ship is not the Norwegian Sky. It is the ship that was started for American Hawaiian Cruises before it went bankrupt after 9-11. The hull was originally built in Mississippi.

The Norwegian Sky will be renamed something like the Pride of Aloha.
Pride of America I believe is a new ship and not the re-furb United States (I think).

Both will sail Hawaii under American registry so no Jones act unncessary stops.

We were on RCLs (no longer) Viking Serinade (spelling) about 3 years ago; deluxe outside cabin less than 130 sq feet. The older ships had various cabins and some were very small. The Sea cabins are about 135 sq ft and so on. 144sq ft if layed out correctly is livable, I didn't say huge, but managable. As HCC said, NCL is not known for having huge cabins, but we have sailed RCL twice and had even smaller cabins. The newer NCL ships have much better layed out. As for the Sky, like someone said it was purchased over 1/2 complete so cabins could not be designed any larger. Pride of America is much older. Look for the charm of the ship, to heck with the size. The Norway had some cabins with barely 100 sq ft, others with over 400.

I think Pride of Aloha is the older ship. Pride of America is that was being built when another cruise company went bankrupt.
