We are both nervous but the internist felt that Mike was well enough to come home to recover with restrictions. The cardiologist told him not until the swelling was down yesterday at least another 3 to 4 days. But his coumadin came up to level this morning so the internist felt he could do the same thing at home. We will have to have blood work drawn quite often for a while though. I'm not sure why the change in plans but he is home with me again. He is moving very slow not running any marathons believe me. It is snail pace. And he has 3 more new prescriptions which may not be forever but for now I think he is on 8 different ones.

He looks pretty good, just getting home was exhausting for him though. Tomorrow morning I have to take him in for blood tests and a doctor appointment.

He certainly is behaving himself, asking for me to get him things and only walking when he has to use the bathroom. We are both crossing our fingers that this is the beginning of his recovery at home with no emergencies.

I can't thank you all enough for being there for me over the last 3 weeks. For your prayers and for your support and best wishes. For the cards and gifts. It helped us through a really tough time. We have walked a very scary journey together and we have received some remarkable blessings. This last event almost took Mike's life. Thank You just doesn't seem to be enough, but is comes from the bottom of my heart.

Mike and I laughed tonight. It was last Thursday when he had his last horrible event after taking a shower. While Mike wants a nice hot shower we both decided that it can wait until tomorrow. We want to get past Thursday Night this week. A little supersitious....yup! =huh

That is awesome news Judy. I know that it will be scary but as long as Mike does what he is supposed to do it should be ok. Take care and I will be praying for you and Mike!

Great news!! And he is wise not to have a shower tonight. I'll bet he got exhausted just getting dressed at the hospital! And the excitement and worries about going home may be tiring too. Been there done that - more than a few times! Good luck to both of you!

Don't get me wrong I am thrilled he is home. And he was more than ready but he is also weary....... I'm scared stiff and I'm usually not a wuss..... I had hoped they would regulate his coumadin a few days as they had told us they would, and get the swelling down more. Let's just hope this is all going to be OK. I took a quick shower, Mike was in the office. I could swear he yelled to me in a scary way. I jumped out of the shower, left the water running and ran through the house never even grabbing a towel. I know too much information :grin. My heart was in my mouth. He hadn't yelled, he was just fine, it was all in my mind. It is a wonder I didn't give him another heart attack I'm sure it was not a pretty picture. :lol

I'm sure you're both glad he is home but I certainly understand being nervous about it. Hope he continues to have an UNEVENTFUL recovery from here on out! Hopefully you will both get a good nite's rest with him home in his own bed.

Glad Mike is home. But I'll bet you will be really nervous leaving him alone when you return to work when you need to. I'm wondering if part of the discharge plan should have included a visiting nurse to keep tabs on his vitals and make sure he receives his meds during the day??? I'll bet the insurance would have OKd that one because in the long run it could save them a bundle to assure that he doesn't return to the hospital any time soon. Maybe you can ask about this? If they nix this proposition, perhaps a trusted friend or acquaintance could stop by 1X a day to serve lunch and check everything out for you.

Judy, do you have access to a med chart? If not, maybe you can make one up in Excell to track Mike's meds and check them off as he receives them throughout the day. I always used them for all of my clients that I visited in their homes and it saved a lot of confusion. Across the top list the days of the month, and down the left list each medication. I like to group mine according to times. It's a great idea to list each medication, dosage, and it's side effects, or warning signs at the very top.

I also made up a log book with all questions as they came up, any incoming calls or calls made to medical or insurance personal. That way messages didn't get lost from one person to another. Just read the log when you get home, or let Mike know of any calls coming in while he was sleeping. Or even better, if someone comes in for a few hours they can log info as well for you to read, like anything/changes they notice that the doctors should know about.

We also kept a 'kitty' envelope with $100 cash in a drawer so anyone at home could have access to money for pizza, store errands, etc at all times. You never know when a kind neighbor will pop in and ask "can I get you anything when I go to the store?" This would give Mike a little more sense of independence and control.

One last suggestion ~ have you considered a 'life alert' system for Mike to wear? My Mom used one and it got her to the hospital in time when she had her heart attack. You can actually set it up that if Mike pushes the button FOR ANY REASON the folks at the other end will call you immediately. Very grateful for that system.

Hugs, Mari

I know he must be glad to be home, and a little scared too. But now he can sleep in his own bed.

I hope Mike continues to get better, and you can get a little rest too, Judy.

Take care, and God Bless...

Glad Mike got to come home but know it is scary too. I keep think I hear Paw holler when he is outside and go flying to varius windows and doors to see how he is. Stubborn Paw though gets himself out of all kinds of wild situations. He will climb out of wheels chair and get on ground and get wheels unstuck--he told me he even turned over the wheel chair the toher day and did not call me. Know Mike is as determined and his own man that you will have same problems with him. Hang in there Mike behave. Hugs Maw

Yahoo! Way to go Mike,BEHAVE and listen to JUDY and listen to yourself sweetie, believe me your body tells you what you can and cannot do,treat it with the love you give your lady! Go way slow Mike, you have so much to be thankful for and I bet your bed last night felt like heaven,am so sorry I didnt get a card out to you yet, cant go anywhere cept to the bathroom,I am so sick of nightgowns,Ill try to remember to have John pick up a card this weekend when he gets a few things as no game Sunday,we play Monday night but that man is so tired as well, both John and Judy have done all the hard work, now we must get better for them as we can,the thing I miss the most is not sleeping with John,I miss his body heat, his smell, the big safe feeling of having him near but I cant get into our big 4 poster bed and the double we have in the guest room would never fit the both of us,I take up the whole double moving around all night trying to find a comfortable position with pillows propped everywhere, its probably why he is not sleeping well either, even though we are in the same house we are not in the same bed.

On a final note Mike rest, read, take some funny pictures, watch the boob tube and get well fast,John says hi and says tell the funny man to get well but slowly, many blessings to the both of you this coming Thanksgiving,I will be thinking of you. Much love,John and Korina
