I was on the third cruise when the Millennkium was new. I had a great corner aft balcony cabin. We smelled sewer gas way back then. Is was occasionally inside the cabin and in the hallway. We had some Lysol spray. I think there is a problem with the ventilation and plumbing. It's not that bad. It was one of the best cruises we ever had and we have sailed over 30 times.

You know these threads about sewer smells really get to me. I've been on around 6-7 different ships of different lines some more than once and smelled "the smell" on every one of them at one time or another. Like they say "Ship" happens. The systems used on cruise ships are closed vaccum systems (or what ever the actual term is) The make a great sucking noise and are subject to all sorts of "Cruiseline humour" at show time along with the shower curtains that "Eat" you in the small bathrooms. NOw those showers curtains are real, that I know for sure but as the ships get better, and bigger ,the lines have gotten smarter & the showers are bigger too.
On a system the size of your normal cruise ship now there are so many pax that at least one will be stupid enough to put something down the system that stops normal functions...and then it smells.... For a while until they get it fixed, unplugged or whatever it is they do to keep it all running down hill. The newer systems in the newer ships work way better. But sometimes "S*** happens..
Like Frank says ..it's never spolled a cruise for us either.
Enjoy your planning
