We're on this repositioning cruise. Are you spending any time in Barcelona before the cruise? We're looking for a hotel, but don't know tha area at all. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill.
This will be our third Mille trans so we are only spending 2 nights in Barcelona. We are staying at LeMeidien right on Las Ramblas. We have stayed there both times before and it is an ideal location The price has gone up since the last time we stayed (they have remodeled the hotel), but I was able to get a good deal on the internet a while back and the convenience of knowing our way around was worth the additional cost to us.
We had originally booked this as a back to back with the Med cruise before, but Celebrity decided to put the ship in drydock in between the two cruises and move the transatlantic to 11/18. So now we are doing just the trans and have added the two day cruise to nowhere after for the extra sea days as sort of a consolation prize for our planned 26 day cruise being cut to 14 days.
We love Barcelona - it is a wonderful city to visit.

There is a very active roll call on another message board and a lot of discussion about hotels. You might find that useful. cruise critic.

Thanks for that information, Karen. I will look into your hotel as well as the Barcelona Universal. My wife and I will be just one night in Barcelona. We've been on the Millenium before and we've been on transatlantics before, but not on the Millenium. Do you know why the ship was in drydock? We just booked this cruise a couple of weeks ago and see that it is a different date and itinerary than in the brochure. Was there a problem with the ship? From the posts that I have read, the change really screwed up some peoples plans. Works out well for us. Bill & Kathi Beaton

I heard somewhere that it was to replace the propulsion system. It has also been a while since the ship was launched so it probably will be spruced up.
I heard also heard that they were getting rid of Notes. I am not sure if Cirque will be put on as it is being removed from the Summit. We're just going to have to wait and see.
One thing I am glad about is that our TA was able to secure us great one way fares to Barcelona through Celebrity. At least that way, if the drydock takes longer than expected, we won't be out any money as we can cancel our hotel up until 24 hours before. We are spending a few days in Ft. Myers post cruise, so we booked our own airfare from Ft Myers home to Chicago via USA 3000. For Celebrity to do custom air from there home, it would have been at list prices as that is not one of their hubs.
