This is my first time on a cruise and I was just curious what to expect. For example, do I need to bring formal clothes with me or do I have a choice of what I want to wear? What are the fitness facilities like? What are some things I should bring that the ship might not have? If anyone out there has that kind of info. . .I'm all ears.

Hi AF1,

We are not on your cruise, but we will be debarking in Venice just before you board. The last time we were on the Millennium about 40% wore tuxes and the rest wore dark suit and tie on formal nights. You can rent a tux on board if you so desire. The Millennium has a very well equipped workout facility and you should be able to find the equipment you need in a very nice location. There is a jogging track, table tennis, pools and hot tubs. Celebrity supplies all the equipment you need and towels for the pool area. If you don't have a brochure you can go to the Celebrity web site and request that one be sent to you. The brochure can probably answer some of your questions and help you familiarize yourself with the ships layout and what they have aboard. We sailed on the Millennium last fall and we found it to be a beautiful ship with excellent food, service and entertainment. With the itinerary we are sailing it should be a great experience.

We've been on 10 Celebrity cruises. I would say that anywhere between 40-60% of the men wore tuxes. The rest of the men wore dark suits with tie. All the ladies were dressed up also.

Thanks for the info Petert. So are they reasonable prices for the tux rentals? What are the formal nights for? Is it just for dinner or is there some kind of entertainment. . . ? Are there other options I have other than going formal?

If you do not want to dress for formal night they have alternate dinning in the Ocean grill or you can order room service and order from the same menu that they are serving in the dining room. They serve a full course meal on a table (on wheels) and bring it right to your cabin. We have done this several times and it is nice to have a private dinner for two.

There are three formal nights on a twelve day cruise. You can find the cost of tux rental by calling 800-551-5091. Formal dress is for the evening and is usually worn during dinner, for the theater and for after show festivities. If you are not getting dressed up you also have the option of sampling the sushi bar in the Ocean grill (6:00p.). This cruise is very port intensive with some long excursions, so you should also consider, if you are on early dinner schedule, how much time you have to dress for dinner. It's nice to know what to expect but leave yourself enough flexibility so you can participate in the activities that you will enjoy the most. When you are on board you will have a schedule of the next days activities delivered to your stateroom, and you can check the activities you you want to attend.

Just got off the Millennium 29/02-07/03, you don`t really need a tux, a dark suit and tie are fine. The second night i.e. Monday and the second to last night ie Friday are formal.
If you plan to visit the Olympic Restaurant($25. per person extra)and I strongly recommend you do then suit and tie for this also. Make your reservation AS SOON AS YOU BOARD it fills up fast.Didn~t seem to be any other special doings on formal nights except formal portraits are available before dinner both nights.By the way ,you only need the one suit, laundry service is great $3.50 to press the suit and $2.75 to launder shirts 1 day service.
Regarding the fitness facilities they are great, lots of equipment and a great view from the treadmills. You are going to love this cruise.Bon Voyage!
