Millie or Century?

We are thinking of doing a transatlantic in October 2003 and have narrowed down our choices between the Millie and the Century. We've cruise with Celebrity 7x before but not on the Century or Millie. We are familiar the Millie class (have sailed on the Summit) and have sailed on the Galaxy. We've heard that the Century is a beautiful ship though. So, which one would you choose?

Hi Mary, Sorry, I haven't been on either ship yet either. (We will be on the Mille in October though, so if you have any questions about her then, just ask.) But for what it's worth here's my opinion: I don't think you can possibly go wrong with either of these choices. I really doubt if there will be much difference in the cruise experience on these two ships. The Century always seems to get excellent comments on food and service and decor, but so does the Millennium. . And the cabins sizes are about the same, according to their catalogue. The only factors I can offer for you to consider as you make up your mind are these:
-The Mille is bigger (Mille- 91,000 ton vs. Century - 70,6006 tons)
-The Mille is newer ,( Mille - July 2000 vs. Century - Dec. 1995)
- And the Thallasotherapy pool is free on the Mille while it is a charged for use item on the Century. (Back in '99 it cost $10. per day or $50. for the week to use the Thallasotherpy pool on the Mercury. I would guess that it costs more now).
-I also tend to think that the Mille would be less crowded considering it is almost 30 % larger than the Century but holds not even 12% more passengers. (M- 1950 persons vs C- 1750 persons )

The Millie is similar in style and content to the Summit yet the Century is quite a distinct ship from the wonderful Galaxy. I like the Century class series for a number of reasons. I like that they are all different inside in major public areas, that they have their nightclubs in the back of the ships, that they have real promenade decks with teak and that the aft area is for the public, and not just for private balconies. The Century class for me feels more intimate, more nooks and crannies to enjoy. Millie is a fine ship, but for me, the Century is more quintessential Celebrity, along with the Mercury , Galaxy, and Horizon class ships.

I have sailed on the Millennium and the Summit. We re booked on the Mercury in November and I am looking forward to a slightly differenct cruise experience on a smaller ship.

What ever your choice, have a great cruise! You can't beat Celebrity :jump

Depends on price and where each ship are going. Remember that the Century is 6 or 7 years older than the Millie and doesn't have as many veranda's.

Price and destination would be what I would decide on.

We have sailed on both ships. While the Millie is newer, we really like the Century. We have sailed on the Century twice, the 1st time was in an inside cabin on the sky deck. The second we were upgraded to a cat 1 suite. The thallasotherapy pool is free on the Millie, but it is nothing like the one on the Century. The one on the Millie is more like a big hot tub. The one on the Century is private (you have to go to the spa) and the jets are so much better. Even if you only try it once it is worth it, you pay a charge, and you can use it all day. If you are in a mini-suite (cat 2) or a suite cat 1 or higher you can use it for free all week. Well anyway you have been on the Summit so you already know what the Millie is like. And as for the Century you have sailed on the Galaxy, so they are close. Which one did you like better? You have first hand info, you would know best as to what you like about each one. Good luck and happy cruisin.

Both ships are very nice so IMO either one would be Gr8. Like some above have said ... if a balcony is your preference then the Millennium would have the edge.

Thanks for all your help you guys. We decided to try out both ships! HA! We are doing a 7-day Western Carrib in November on the Century and have booked the 14-day transatlantic on the Millennium. I can't believe we decided to do this! I have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure I am not dreaming.
