Mobile Terminal - Embarkation

Don B

Chief Security Officer
Hey, Folks! If you have recently embarked at Mobile, please let me know any tips, problems, best time to get there, traffic info, etc. Our first Mobile experience is in 2 weeks! We are Platinum guests, so will not have to wait in line long, but there are others meeting us there that need all your good information!
Thanks!

Don, we cruised on the Fantasy out of Mobile on Dec 28, 2010, We arrived a day before and took advantage of the Renaissance Hotel park and cruise deal. We were on the first shuttle at 10:45 and in the first group to board, around 11:30.
The Carnival reps at the terminal was some of the nicest folks we've meet. Everything went very smooth.

We cruised out of Mobile a year ago on the Holiday for an end of summer 4-day cruise. We drove down from Minnesota (yep, it was a long drive but a lot of fun) and carried on all our luggage. We got to the terminal around 11:30 and were onboard enjoying lunch by noon. Like I said, we carried all our luggage on ourselves and didn't have any problems. No one checked our luggage and the line went really fast. I will say, however, that some people brought those rolling coolers filled with beer and they were not allowed to bring the beer on board.

Like the poster above said, it went very smooth.

We embarked Elation in Mobile in July 2010. I forgot to record in my journal the time we arrived at the terminal, yet I did mention that we made taxi arrangements for 11:15. (Flat rate $15 from the Battle House Renaissance.) So, we probably got to the terminal around 11:30-11:40. The lines were already long by then, but we had VIP status, and were all set to board within 15 minutes. Everything was well-marked, and there were many Carnival reps to assist.

Disembarkation was another story. We were in the first group (after those who elected self-disembarkation), were called a little before 9:00 and didn't get through Customs until 9:45. Ours was a 7-night cruise and I was surprised at how many pax carried off all of their own luggage.

But, embarkation was a breeze.

We have cruised from Mobile 6 times in the past, always arriving between 10:30 & 11 AM. We have always been on board before noon; embarkation has always been very efficient. We will be boarding again next month and expect a similar experience.
