We cruised out of Mobile a year ago on the Holiday for an end of summer 4-day cruise. We drove down from Minnesota (yep, it was a long drive but a lot of fun) and carried on all our luggage. We got to the terminal around 11:30 and were onboard enjoying lunch by noon. Like I said, we carried all our luggage on ourselves and didn't have any problems. No one checked our luggage and the line went really fast. I will say, however, that some people brought those rolling coolers filled with beer and they were not allowed to bring the beer on board. Like the poster above said, it went very smooth.
