Can anyone answer her questions? I can't!

1.) Does the Pride have laundry facilities?

2.) Do the lifeboats hinder your view if you have a balcony cabin on the Empress Deck 6?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!! :)

I can help you with the first question. Yes they do have laundry facilities on the Pride. I'm not exactly sure which deck they are on (I think deck 4) but I will find out when I go on there 2 week cruise in September. I was on the Pride in May and I can't wait to go back!!

It sounds like you may be on the same cruise with her - 9/24, Vancouver to Hawaii???

Lady Jag,

In answer to your... oops "mom's" questions.... ;-)

1) Yes, there are laundry facilities on every other passenger deck. (my wife used the laundry facilities on the 7th deck)

2) There are no "obstructed view" Cat 8 balconies on the pride. Obstructed view balconies would be a Cat 7.

3) Please check out my review of our recent Pride Cruise, it might answer some of your other questions.

4) Have a great cruise!!!!

Motley - Oh - I guess you'll be bringing the ship out for her cruise in Vancouver! Sounds like a great time!

Dean - Thanks so much for the info! I believe she is in a Cat. 7, obstructed view balcony cabin. I found some pictures on cruisemates' gallery and printed them out for her. I will definitely print your review out for her also. Thanks again for the info!!

Hey LadyJag--

Thought your mom was cruising on the Spirit?! I guess it doesn't really matter--they're sister ships, aren't they? But if she's still on the Spirit, give a holler as I can 'talk' specifically about that ship.

Enjoy the day!

Sea Turtle - I feel like a total idiot!! She IS on the Spirit!!! Don't know why I put the Pride. Here she is, almost double my age, and she can get things straight and I can't!! At my age, it's pretty embarrassing to be "loosing it"!! Thanks for getting me straightened out!

:blush :dizzy

Lady Jag,
That's no biggie, they're basically the same ship! Cat 7 balcony cabins have "differing obstruction views"... as long as there's a balcony, she'll have a view!!! Make sure she brings a bungee cord along to keep the balcony door open at night. Sleeping to the sounds of the wind and waves is therapeutic!!! (okay, maybe not, but sure was cool!)

Lady Jag--

Totally understandable. You're cruise bound, and mom or no mom those thoughts take priority. :grin

Anyway on the Spirit the Laundry Rooms were on decks 1 midship (I used this one all the time as it's right beside the elevator), deck 6 (all the way forward). I know they had laundry rooms on one or two other decks but these two I actually used.

As memory serves (might be as good as yours though--ha!) she shouldn't have any kind of obstruction on Empress Deck. I have been on Main Deck 4 in a 5a with totally obstructed view thanks to the lifeboat so Empress Deck 6 should be all clear. Upper Deck 5 would see the topside of the lifeboats. Empress Deck should be great for your mom--nice and quiet since there's a cabin deck above. If she should receive an offer for an upgrade to the Panorama Deck, I personally wouldn't take it. I once went from the peacefulness of the Verandah Deck to what was supposedly an upgrade on Panorama--NOT. Granted on Panorama it was mid-ship (#8208) which was ideal but the noise from above was horrendous, and ran from around 06:00-02:00 every day. Thought I was in a bowling alley and it wasn't 'bowling for dollars'!

Enjoy your cruise this weekend! Look forward to hearing about it when you return.

I have lots of Caper papers from Spirit so let me know if you want me to look up anything.

All the best,

Okay, great advice, everyone, thanks! :thumb You guys are great!! :thumb

If she or her travel buddies have any more questions, I'll let you know. She was just diagnosed with breast cancer a few days ago, so this cruise is really important to her and I want it to be the best possible.

Unfortunately, our cruise isn't until 8/18 on the Monarch, but we're flying up to San Fran. for a week - next weekend. Boy, do I WISH we were cruising this weekend!! Everytime I look out at our new balcony off our master bedroom, I think, "There's my Caribbean cruise." sigh...... Oh well. :( It was either a 7-day cruise or the balcony. Ofcourse, you KNOW what my choice was, but I lost this one.

Sending some positive energy along for your mom and for you!!!!!

Sorry to jump the gun on your cruise, Lady Jag. I saw your name on E's BV list earlier today. Well, you'll just get more BV wishes later on!! And, can't beat a trip to the Bay Area--my old stomping grounds.

Enjoy the evening!

OH! Don't even apologize! It's my fault. It must be from either the Zuiderdam cruise or Navigator cruise we cancelled due to buying the new house. Oh well, I'll consider the bon voyages early ones for the Monarch sailing. :)

Thanks for the good wishes for my mom. She was told the cancer is malignant. :(
