We are sailing on the Carnival Pride on Nov. 9th. Does anyone have any info on the best place to see monkeys in the wild. We can take a ship tour to the Baboon Santuary or a tulum/River Wallace tour-I have heard people say they have seen monkeys here also.

I have heard very mixed reviews of Belize. I have a ten year old daughter who l would really love to see the monkeys.

Thanks for the tip Natalie!!!

We were in Belize last month. I emailed Fred Sutherland and he gives tours of the wildlife zoo. He comes highly recommended on the cruise critic board on Belize. His email address is FredSuth@btl.net Make sure you take some insect repellant. I Belize you will have a great time. Greg

Went to Belize this past April. We were able to see the monkeys on a trip to the mayan ruins. We took the New Lumani River cruise and when we arrived at the ruin area, they fed everyone lunch and the monkeys were all over the place. They didn't approach anyone though. Another cruiser did the Baboon thing and was very disappointed. Have fun

Please let me add that we went to the Baboon Sanctuary last year when we sailed the Spirit. We spent about an hour on a bus to get there. There were no rest rooms everyone lines up to use a hole in a wooden shack. You had to be about 6 feet tall, and I am not to be able be above the hole.

After using the so called facilities we walked for about 5 to 10 minutes with a guide who made noises. We stopped and about 4-6 monkeys came out. I took a couple of pictures, and it was a good thing I did, because then we turned around and went back to the bus. That was our whole tour!

It was rather disappointing, I understand that these Baboons are in the wild, but I would have thought we would have seen a few more.

JMHO but I would choose another tour if you have any other options. I really don't think you will enjoy this one..
