Just found this board, sorry to answer your question so late. From what I've read on the boards, you really need to have a guide--a lot of people never want to go back to Jamaica because of their experiences being hassled. The guides are your "protection"....They really do watch out for you and make sure your Jamaica experience is a great one. There seem to be some good tour guides in the MoBay area. We used Trevor Hudlin, he took our large family group to Mayfield Falls, a very different experience than Dunns River Falls, but it was wonderful!! We'd highly recommend him.
